I know everyone is taking a bit of joy in his fall and I get it because he was a complete tit when he decided to force his way out but I actually am a bit sad at how far he's dropped off. That last year with us he was on the cusp of pushing on and being genuinely world class and it's just gone the complete other way. Watching the highlights from 2016-17 he was just dominant at times and now he still scores but has turned into basically a poacher just sitting in the box and hoping it falls for him. I kind of miss the old Rom.

So might he if he had the self awareness to see it

He ripped our defensive apart at the Etihad. Scored an absolute cracker!
He received the ball just over the half way line, sprinted like a Gazelle with
defenders backing off all over the place and then buried it in the bottom corner.
You just knew when he received the ball he was going to score. He was fairly
lethal in his day. Went to the wrong team at the wrong time.

Great goal that, the game when Stek saved 2 penalties

Was like the school master stepping in for a kick about with the U14 side, a man amongst boys. Didn't happen all that often tbf but when he was on he was on.

As much as I don't believe that anyone who struggles to trap a ball could be considered world-class, I also don't think I could name many players that have gone as far as he has with such limited technical ability. It's only really Inzaghi that springs to mind.

Of course, his fall came after he left us, much better than him still being here and stuck on our payroll. United have some big problems now and he is one of them, just be glad we got him when we did and sold him when we did.

I think if he stayed here he would still be a great striker. The problem was joining United and Pogba allowed him to get sidetracked with building his brand and his business outside of football. If he gets back to just playing football he could be really good again.
