Thought he could do better so wanted to move. In return we got lots of goals and a big profit.

Much better than having players who know they can't do better, play badly and have cost a fortune in fees and wages. Wages they will not get elsewhere so will not move. Schneiderlin, Sigurdsson, Tosun, Walcott immediately spring to mind.
