Romelu Lukaku

Been one of his best so far for United. But CSKA have been woeful.

Just waiting for him to come up against good opposition to see what the real score is with him. If I'm wrong about him, so be it, but it would have been interesting to see the roles reversed with Morata tonight.

Do not retreat. Lukaku's mask will slip at the first sign of resistance, revealing the viper neath

Of course he is an amazing goalscorer, but looking forward to when he goes through his first patch of not scoring in 6, where his sh!te overall game all of a sudden starts getting questioned. Still think Man U won't win a bean this season. Here's hoping anyway.

He scored vs real madrid earlier in the season.

In terms of goalscoring patterns, he was similar with us to be fair - it often was feast or famine. He'd have a period where he he scored a goal a game on average for a month or two, then he'd go missing for seven or eight games.

He's started very well at Man U, the proof in the pudding will be if he can keep it up when United play 5 or 6 games in a short period against the likes of Chelsea, Man City, Barca, Bayern etc.

United fans are rightly realising that the weaknesses they were warned about were blown stupidly out of proportion while he was here and they've acquired a world beater.

It's great that the debate on the importance of his "weaknesses" to the team as a whole can be safely put to bed now too. The idea that his all-round play was holding us back and would do the same at United was always utter nonsense and has been shown to be so.

I'm not worried about his goals. He'll score goals even when playing badly.

What I'm waiting to see is, when United have a run of tougher games, whether they struggle to string results together because everything breaks down in the final third.

In tough games we dont play on the ground. In tough games we're very direct. E.g vs Liverpool in a few weeks instead of looking to build through the phases we'll play direct football to Rom and Fellaini to advance us in final third.

And I suspect the problem with that approach is that you'll be playing either counter attacking football, which would suit Lukaku but better sides will play around, or you'll see play break up, because Lukaku isn't technically the best by any stretch of the imagination.

If Mourinho plays to a second striker and keeps Lukaku on the shoulder of the last man as part of a front two, you may have some joy. But if you try to have Lukaku be a target man in a direct system... some pain ahead is my belief.

He's at the level of Lewandowski, Agüero, prime-time Ivanisovic & Falcao (pre-Man U era) now. Harry Kane looks it too. I suppose for neutrals the Prem having three strikers (4 if you count Zlatan) of upper-level world-class quality must be great. Annoys me tho' as we had one of them and let him go because we're not good enough to qualify for Champs League. Damn, what the hell what went wrong with Martinez?

I think Lukaku benefits the most from United being a side that thrives on raw ability rather than possession. Players like Martial, Mkhitaryan, Young, Rashford can keep defenders honest while providing reliable service. They don't dawdle on the ball and allow defenses to set themselves. That isn't even taking Fellaini into account who can cause all sorts of problems and make Rom's job far easier. Lukaku was built for this current United side.
