He isn't playing worse; he's just not scoring. Because he's in competitive games against good opposition, he's badly exposed due to his lack of movement and technique.

You can almost reliably predict what will happen next. They have Huddersfield and Swansea next - Lukaku will probably grab two or three in those two games. They then have Spurs, Benfica and Chelsea - it wouldn't surprise me to see him not grab one in those three. Yet overall he'll probably have 3 goals in 6 games, a one in two record, but it doesn't tell the whole story.

Tremendous, almost one of a kind goalscorer given half a chance, but it comes with a huge cost - and that is playing with essentially 10 men against good opposition. His value is that he's a huge "Get Out Of Jail Free" card against poorer opposition if your side isn't playing well, but the top sides have those players in spades anyway.

But the point is, Utd didn't. Last season they kept drawing at home to "lesser' opposition. Scoring against that type of team is Lukaku's speciality.
