I think it's sometimes forgotten that they finished sixth last season. Adding him will likely mean automatic Champions League, which is really all that these clubs care about.

They're never title winners, though. Not even close.
 
Honestly..... why does anyone care about him? Protecting him like he was playing for us out of the goodness of his heart. He was on top money, kept piping up about wanting to leave, had patches of pure laziness, let us down in big games.

He's gone.... get over it. Decent finisher and that's about it. Many better players have worn the blue shirt with far less baggage..

So you would have wanted a disgruntled player who didn't want to play for us to turn up and keep up his form? You know full well we had to sell him and sooner rather than later to get the full price.

Yes i'd have kept him. Just like Liverpool, Arsenal and Soton all kept Sanchez, Van Dijk and Cout

Full price? For me we could have got more.

Also he would have been well up for this season, world cup in the summer. Plus you forget we didn't even replace him so of course we should have kept him.

You DONT sell your best players. We do, hence the results speak for themselves

You realise with 2 years left, even if you get say, half a season, which covers your world cup theory that his price would start to go down. Clubs know he would hang on to be a free agent, much like Barkley is doing right now and tell me how is that working out for us?

Anyway under Martinez, Lukaku is a lock for the World Cup.

I’d have kept him for two personally and lost him on a free. He’s irreplaceable

But even if we kept him till next summer you’d maybe get 20/25m less. What’s 20 these days in football?
 
Lukaku has not been briliant in the last 2 games , but he has been very isolated and we have been more concerned with defending but still a draw and a win is not to bad , a lot to play for so come on Romelu keep going and think about the Glory
