Ronald Koeman discussion

I wouldn't think so just yet. I really don't think Moshiri is an impulsive man. He made it clear since day one he wanted RK and he didn't stop until he got him. He will give him at least until this time next year before he would sack him as he thought he was the right man to move us forward long term and build our next squad.
sacking is not on the agenda imo - 6million a year contract too much compensation , and we are 7th 1st in the 3 prem league set up imo!

I agree the timing of RK's comments is strange.

Perhaps it is just frustration with today's result boiling over.

The more I reflect on it, RK must have surely known months ago what the budget is, so it's less likely to be annoyance with whatever that figure is. Unless of course, he has been led up the garden path on that front. If that's the case then it's obviously hugely concerning.

If it's not the money, then it's the execution. Again here, they have had months to learn from the mistakes of the summer and to iron out exactly who will do what.

Kenwright and Elstone have never had my confidence but here too they have no need to be unnecessarily circumspect about spending someone else's money, when we have had none for years.

If Walsh is still having to untangle himself from Bill and Bob to do business then it's a failure of leadership on a colossal scale which would justify Moshiri's direct intervention immediately. To see Elstone trying to claim credit for the sponsorship the other evening was nauseating. If he is still contributing to amateur hour then he should be the first casualty.

Koeman came out before the window opened mate and said that him and Walsh have had a lot more time to get prepared (unlike the summer) and were now ready, and had everything in place etc. Sounds like they must have their list of targets, now down to the money men to open their wallets.

He is a master of motivation (and by god does this team need that).

His comment about an 18 year old being the best player is designed to get the rest of them to up their game.

Likewise his comments about the need to get new players in, designed at getting the board to do their job.

His tough-love to Ross and Fluffy-dog, fluffy-wife, fluffy tweeting Geri is to help them fulfill their obvious potential rather than stay as unfulfilled disappointments

We've spent an awful lot of money on firing Martinez and recruiting Koeman. With the purchase of Lookman we've for the first time spent money in real terms following the sale of stones. RK has made mistakes, moshiri went all out for Koeman, he needs to back his judgement and support him in this and the summers transfer window. If we are still seeing the flat, uninspiring football this time next year 'with a team Koeman has assembled himself' then questions need to be asked about his position, but not before.

Get to bed man, that's far too sensible a post...;)

Its not just Barry though is it. If he's saying an 18 year old is the best player when you have a a team full of International players and players with years of experience, then to me he is having a go at them.
But those same players (albeit some are internationals) have let Martinez down and now Koeman. It's a collective failure, RK has made mistakes but the players need to look at themselves as professionals and ask themselves are they implementing what Koeman is asking of them. If they aren't they are either not good enough to implement that style of play or they don't have the desire to. Either way they should be shown the door I'd that is the case.

There have been tons of arguments but his obsession with Koeman is a joke.

Clever from RK. Completely deflecting all attention from the game & utter dross to get fans fuming at the board etc.

Makes a refreshing change from Moyes and Martinez.
At least he's not settling for this garbage.

Unfortunately it has to be tempered by the fact that he has to accept a degree of responsibility too, because as much as it is the board's fault for not getting the signings in, it's his fault for the tactics and poor subs today and at various times so far this season.

What about his second and third season? Would you take either of them over this one? If you would then you clearly don't remember how bad either of them got. This season has been far from great but it's definitely been better then either of those seasons.

Yes. The league season's were terrible of course, but the second season brought us a great run in the europa with both wins over a great wolfsburg team a real highlight, and then last season we got to the semis of both cups, that win over chelsea was such a good feeling and it ended in going to wembley. This season? ermmm, 2-1 win away to west brom? Well beating arsenal was obviously the highlight so far, but there's not a lot to have shouted about, no great performances, that's for sure.
