Ronald Koeman discussion

He rates McCarthy. But the rest i'd say you're spot on.

Add in Mirallas, Oviedo, Gibson, Sniv and Niasse (permanently) and we're probably on our way.

I think he likes Lennon and McCarthy. He's given Lennon a lot of chances for instance

I'm thinking Del is definitely one of them, probably McAlney, Robles, Funes Mori, Kone as well as probably Gibson

He played Oviedo quite a bit, so I think he's safe so long as he doesn't recall Galloway

Yep, some good points here. I'm surprised there wasn't a bit more push back on the Funes Mori shout but I think he is as good as gone in the summer.

Oviedo, yes agree there. Gibson too. Sadly Mirallas also as you say.

Not sure on McCarthy. Think with Schneiderlin in now, that's Gueye and him as the starting pair, Davies who he clearly rates, Barry with the new deal - four players for the two starting spots. Davies has years ahead of him so can be eased in and Barry is your 'experience when necessary'. Not sure McCarthy has a role anymore.

Left field and regrettable shout would be Barkley on that list.

I've never been a big fan of Funes Mori to be fair mate

Love his desire, but not a fan of him as a player

I don't hate him, I just don't rate him

I think the fact we signed him over my fave probably colours my opinion too if I'm being wholly honest. But I still feel justified to think he's not "all that"

And a wonderful irony that he might make way for him

At last, it seems like we have a manager that can actually see the deadwood that us fans can see... and lets everyone know it. No more extended contracts 'just to be nice' for club favorites, a la Neville, Osman, Hibbert etc in the past
And yet Gibson was given a new deal in the summer and hasn't made a single appearance.

Ok so if its all down to the money they make in wages then tell me who would better then us right now for Koeman?

We doubled his wages, that's why he is here and if another club come offering him a massive rise he'd take that as well.

I'm fine with it, I accept it as long as he improves us. He's just never lasted too long at one club in his managerial career.

You seem to be like one of them women in soaps " Yeah, he's a bad boy and all that but he'll change for me "

Think Funes will stay, especially if we spunk 40+ on one centre-half. He's a serviceable defender.

Barkley is improving and starting to fit in with the game Koeman wants to play. He'll get better with Morgan alongside him so I'd say he's not going anywhere just yet.

lovely comments from Koeman, exactly what we need him to be saying.

the fact is players in that squad aren't good enough and do need to be sold. The fact that Koeman isn't a work with what he has type of manager and is genuinely pointing out he wants to get rid of players out of there tells me only one thing. That he deems them not good enough either, he can see what we see and he is rebuilding the squad which is fantastic to hear.

Probably correct

We could sell Funes Mori to a Spanish or Italian side for a small profit, and I reckon we will if we buy a top CB

Everton have handed Darron Gibson a new two-year contract.

The 28-year-old had been out of contract having signed for the Blues in January 2012.

Gibson has been dogged by injury in the past three seasons and managed just 27 appearances for Everton.

But the club, who have yet to finalise a deal to bring Ronald Koeman in as Roberto Martinez’s replacement, have offered the midfielder new terms.

Gibson says he had “options” but his first choice was always to stay with Everton.

“I am absolutely delighted,” he said.
