I agree with the theory, absolutely. As I said, I'm not saying it's necessarily a bad thing, and we don't even know who he was talking about.Any decent player who belongs in a successful team would think 'I'm going to prove him wrong and get in this team'. Look at Schweinsteiger and even Fellaini at United, written off by some managers only to then get back in favour. If a player is sulking then they are just confirming Koemans initial judgement.
Well HK went to Gray's house and told him he was moving to villa, and he had been a key component in us winning the league. You can't be more ruthless than that.History lesson required here
Please do some research on how the greatest manager in our history treated players once he had decided he didn't want them anymore
Where is the benefit of doing that?
I can think of only one effect a policy of downgrading your own players in public: they dont put it in for you in a match.
He;s had this approach elsewhere and it merely pisses good players off. As said, it's a numbnuts, egotistical, playing to the gallery approach that lacks anything remotely like class.

god I'd hate for that to start happening! Can you smell coffee Dave? Nope? Wake up!
Roberto Martinez believes that there is no better technical English player than Tom Cleverley, as Everton’s manager challenged the former Manchester United player to score the 10 goals a season that can make him “one of the most sensational players in Premier League history".
Ronald Koeman admits 'some Everton players know they have no future at the club'
Not an Everton manager some people say, im sorry, but as an Everton fan I want my manager to tell me the truth.
I'm not suggesting we molly coddle them or retain them forever. I'm saying it;s bad strategy to get them from being onside when he arrived to a position where they can easily seize on his words and not put it in for the remainder of their time here.I see where you're coming from, but if we have players whose ego's are so fragile that they'll down tools as suggested at a bit of criticism (and they don't have bags of quality that we can't afford to lose), they're not the characters we need. That type of character is in part to blame for our bottling, weak-willed capitulations in recent years.
You can maybe massage the ego of truly world class players, to keep them onside, but that's not the position we're in.

Obviously he is lying. Or is he really deluded?

It's just rank bad management and only something someone with poor emotional intelligence would do.
