Ronald Koeman discussion

I think the last line is a bit unfair

Everton are a team in painful transition with what appears a manager yet to be convinced by the club, and vice-versa.

I dont think the club are yet to be convinced by Koeman, some of the fans yes but the club have spend serious money not only on him and paying off his predecessor, they've also now backed him in the transfer market. We've just spent more that we have in any transfer window.

Hunter (who I've known for over 30 years) is a massive blue. He always tells it how it is and he is right when he says that Koeman isn't convinced about the club, and the club isn't convinced about him. We are in transition and it could go either way. If we do not invest in the squad then we have no chance of catching the clubs above us.

Yeah, funnily enough I think that's spot on: if the manager is telling them they have no future then they dont get motivated.

What is the point of saying stuff like that?

It's a numb nuts managerial strategy. But ok, he's Dutch and we're supposed to give him a free pass on it?

No chance.
Nothing can de-motivate someone faster than a bad manager. It seems a totally unnecessary comment to make publically or even privately when you're half way through a season!

He is changing it. He's shipping out those with bad attitudes, poor work ethic, or lack of quality.

Cleverley and Niasse in a week. Probably more to follow.
...and reinforcing it by retaining and handing out contract extensions to players who are tat.

I could see no rhyme or reason for it. What on earth can be gained from it? Nothing. He's playing to the gallery and some people are impressed by such unhelpful nonsense.

He's a manager who likes to strike out at others when he's under the cosh. We saw that after he ended our season last Saturday and he lashed out again.

It's madness to me. Ego driven nonsense to be talking your players down in public.

I've never known a manager like it at this club. It's undignified and its not Everton class. No doubt some will admire it, why I have no idea.
Worked wonders at Chelsea with Mourinho publically slagging players off. Could never see Howard Kendall doing it or needing to do it and he's my yardstick.

That's the way I see it unfortunately, it's no wonder he's had problems at other clubs if this is his approach.
