Ronald Koeman discussion

Delighted that Koeman isn't giving the bad players a chance to waste 6 more months. It's a bit harsh, but it just shows how 'easy' some players were taking life at Everton - the fact he's admitted some haven't even bothered to train properly under him says everything about Martinez.

When you look at some of Martinez's signings under Everton, I suppose we are very lucky that the board acted fast and didn't give him another year. The majority of the first 11 are still Moyes signings which says a lot.

Good - McCarthy, Lukaku, Barry
Average - Deulofeu, Lennon, Robles, Besic
Poor - Kone, Alcaraz, McGeady, Eto

Just hoping that Koeman makes good progress and gets the changes needed over the January and Summer transfer windows, in time for August.

No koeman doesn't get everton.

He doesn't get the jobs for the boys mentality in the team.

He doesn't get the fact success isn't really important these days

He doesn't get signing budget players and hoping for the best is the way to go.

He doesn't get the idea managers can do whatever they want and accept whatever is dumped on them.

And he doesn't get the idea that the board can do whatever they want and he can just accept it.

So no, koeman doesn't get this club. How about he wants to change it? Get the board pulling their fingers out in the market, get the players playing for their shirt and not just turn up for their wages/place in the team. How about he wants to change the frame of mind of the players, where he won't accept the same performances every week and demand more from them? And if you don't you are out?

McCarthy is appalling. Barry too these days.

I think you're being a bit generous there but yeah, has there ever been a manager that was so bad in the market? I don't think the Lukaku one counts either as every man and his dog thought that was a good move. And even he's overrated lol

Yes yes yes that's all well and good but what about his Xmas tree? It had some red bits on FFS.

I've been umming and aahing about Koeman for a while. I'm not sure I 'like' him that much. But I've come to one conclusion - it's the first time I can ever remember having a manager who truly believes in and embodies the club motto. Nothing but the best is good enough for him, and he doesn't care who knows it.

He's having a go to try and get a reaction, rightly or wrongly at least Koeman acknowledges we are not good enough and takes some action rather than telling us we're actually doing phenomenal and continuing to do the same thing week after week.

I'd rather see him trying to remind players of the expectations we have for them than pretending everything is rosy or that we're punching above our weight really. Sack all that off. We want the team to win things, Koeman wants the team to win things, the players need to be aware that's the level we're aiming for and if they're not working hard enough to achieve that in the manager's eyes then he should be telling them rather than allowing them to get comfortable and see their standards drop. He knows what it takes to win things because he's won them as manager and player.

It's called continuous improvement, even if we were topping the league I wouldn't want us to stop trying to improve. It's practically the club's motto.
And the point of doing that in public is what exactly?...besides fueling his own massive ego, that is.

like it or not it's about time someone came in put a bomb under us, enough of being told we are a "nice" club and people in senior positions like Kenwright and Martinez waxing lyrical about average players and pie in the sky pipedreams, i want us to be ruthless and horrible in order to win and if that means telling players that its time to go, good, Koeman is clearly ruthless as is Moshiri, love the work we do in the community and i have no doubt that will continue, however the message is clear to everyone connected with EFC, shape up or you are done, and I am loving it. If you don't like it @davek the answer is easy
"Koeman has done this and Koeman has said that."

Mate, he's done nothing here. I'll start sitting up and taking serious note of what that feller does and says when he starts to do his job. The fact he points the finger at others means nothing to me. We play terrible football and the season is over in January. That's what he's done so far.

I suppose one point is to inform us supporters what he thinks and how he sees us going forwards . I like that personally. He didn't name any specific players. I prefer someone who's up front and blunt, rather than some obsequious, secretive, flim flam man. I've said before he wasn't my choice, like yourself I was hoping for Favre. But I've grown to like him.

Great post, spot on. In Koeman We Trust.

Thankfully most of our fans have some patience and realise it takes time to undo years of neglect.

But the season isn't over. The most important part of the season is the league position it's what drives future aspirations and prospects and there is still a lot of football left to play yet.
