Ronald Koeman discussion

Gareth Barry

Yeah. I'd probably agree to a point with this one. I suspect he wants to keep Barry on as he's well known to be a proper professional.

Works hard, trains hard, lives the right pro-football lifestyle. I'd agree he needs phasing out, (and I think Morgan is his replacement) as his legs have gone now, but I can see the rationale in keeping him around, as an example to others as to how to apply yourself.

Delighted that Koeman isn't giving the bad players a chance to waste 6 more months. It's a bit harsh, but it just shows how 'easy' some players were taking life at Everton - the fact he's admitted some haven't even bothered to train properly under him says everything about Martinez.

When you look at some of Martinez's signings under Everton, I suppose we are very lucky that the board acted fast and didn't give him another year. The majority of the first 11 are still Moyes signings which says a lot.

Good - McCarthy, Lukaku, Barry
Average - Deulofeu, Lennon, Robles, Besic
Poor - Kone, Alcaraz, McGeady, Eto

Just hoping that Koeman makes good progress and gets the changes needed over the January and Summer transfer windows, in time for August.

that's not true though, is it? both full backs, that's it. Mirallas you could say at a push, but he's not a nailed on first 11.

And the point of doing that in public is what exactly?...besides fueling his own massive ego, that is.

When a word in private has failed to get a result it might just work. This isn't a Niasse situation, he's given them six months.

I can see why it is hard to come to terms with a squad that was described, probably even by me, as one of our best in years essentially being gutted and called not good enough.

That said though, the two previous years were not good enough in most Evertonian opinions and we replaced the manager as a result. The players who got those results over the last two impressive years are still here and Koeman has every right as a manager to make a call on their ability and application. If Martinez was treated unfairly then it is because his players, the ones we can assume Koeman's is talking about now, let Martinez down too.

"finally after this summer it will really be my team, and it will be a team the fans will like. We will be ready then to take the next step."
Assuming we land this Algerian that'll be 8 players RK has brought in yet, based on this comment, it appears he still won't be ready to take any responsibility for performances.
I'm all for recruiting more good players but RK's managerial performance will have to improve to get the most from them.
I can't fault his PR skills though. I'm hopeful we'll soon improve but, as of yet, RK is little better than RM was at this stage last year yet he's skilfully managed to deflect the scrutiny onto the players.
He's even benefited, perhaps inadvertently, by tapping into a long held fan frustration with a board that had limited funds pre Usmosh.

Well if he gets the players in, either now or in the summer, he runs out of excuses then doesnt he and we can finally judge his "era" at the club fairly.

It just requires a little more patience.

I make it 7 ?

Which is still not enough to change the entire squad. Particularly when one of those players is out until 2018.

He gets a good rap on Talksport. And not just Jim White.

In fact the club do these days. Obviously his relationship with White helps, and though it is easy to scoff at that, in this media driven game of football, its a good sign.

Blues are back.

have you warmed to jim white now ??? !!
