Ronald Koeman discussion

Looking at the form table for the last 6 games we're second placed with 14 points behind Tottenham, for the last 10 games we're 4th with 20 points behind Chelsea Tottenham and Man Utd. We need to keep this up if we're going to achieve anything and it's certainly a long way off the poor form of earlier in the season now and it's nice that we seem to be heading in the right direction. Koemans doing a decent job here and we're starting to see the benefits. Hopefully given time he'll get us to where we want to be.

Sake lads.

On the way home I was thinking about posting #TheEntertainers in this thread but you've beaten me to it !

Can't lie, I think I'd have preferred it if we'd shut up shop and seen it out at 3-0 to save my heart, but I'll take scoring six !

If we get a CL spot I'll make a statue of him.

People are understandably happy about the mini run, but it means nothing. Look at the table and we're still 7th. If United win tomorrow it doesn't matter if we'd beat Bournemouth 16-0.

To be honest, despite the run we're on, I still don't expect us to finish above seventh, but it's giving the second half of the season a bit more of a purpose.

Is that the summit of Billinge lump in your avatar, WB?

Posts like that are why this forum is on its arse.

Agree, but he made the change when we settled.

Haha that's why I said attacking play. Not sure what was going on at the back. They throw bodies forward Bournemouth, a bit reckless as they don't have good enough defenders to go one on one.

think we just sat back a bit too deep mate - invited too much pressure and one moment of quality (Wilshere) opened us up.

Then we panicked a bit. but we recovered well as soon as Holgate came on and we shifted the dynamics. It threw Bournemouth.

I'm not going to get too carried away, but he's in the midst of a very good run results wise and I can only be pleased by that ;)

The defending today was Martinez level bad though, and he needs to do something about that for the upcoming fixtures, but I thought he made good subs today and I also think he won't stand for another defensive performance like that (Which might mean bad times ahead for Funes Mori)

What I will say for him is that he addressed that he wasn't happy about the defending and also admitted he felt we rode our luck at 3-2. Martinez would have put some kind of spin on how Bournemouth were "in a great moment of form" and how our attacking play was "Phenomenal" and basically talked around the issue. Koeman at least didn't hide from it, and I can respect that

Tbf Mikey, the defending wasn't bad at all first half. we stopped bournemouth 100%

thing is, they came out asleep and sat back too deep. they just forgot how to play like they had for the entire first 45 - the whole team, not just the defence.

that invited pressure on and we couldn't withstand it. Panic struck a bit and you could get it that the crowd and players were anxious. I think he may have just left it a bit too late (only 5/10 mins like) to bring Holgate on, but in the end it worked well.

The last goal Bournemouth goal was more out of play than the Sterling fiasco last year. It was very fortunate, though Joel had to have a good game.

TBF, Bournemouth were throwing everything at it and are a good side going forward. But while we scored six, we could have ended the game as a contest straight after their first had McCarthy not fluffed his lines.

We can get 10-12 points out of our next 5 - Boro, Sunderland, Spurs, West Brom, Hull. Then the not-so-dreaded derby where we could actually overtake the self-proclaimed champions of England.
