Ronald Koeman discussion

I think days like this hammer home just what a disservice those people who come along and post tosh about top 4 finishes do for others.

It's ridiculous to believe this team can get in there this season. They've done well of late and the unbeaten run continues, but we can't keep pace with the elite. Sixth place is still a possibility. But that's top whack for us this season.

The real test comes next season. Any top 6/7 finish this season has to be followed up with a top 5 season (or at the very least a tilt at top five that falls just short. This manager will have spent money again by then and the team will be in his image. Then we can make some pretty definitive conclusions.

But for heavens sake will people like @hktoffee stop pushing this CL BS in an effort to over egg the Koeman pudding. It isn't happening and then when a result and performance like this happens many are frustrated when they really should not be.

Spot on, arsing about every window in true Everton style, we've needed a playmaker and striker for years or at least players that can atleast do a one-two and to stop the players from dropping their competitiveness, can't believe we rested on our morals yet again and we're expected to believe there was no players available.
Maybe because the ones we want aren't available, if we sign a he'll do for now player in January you end up with a squad full of deadwood.... Were still unbeaten this year.. We have come a long way in the last 7-8 months compared to last season. Stay calm were doing very well!!

Two banks of 4 and 5 in front of this team and they haven't got a clue.

We all knew we needed someone who could turn the key in games like this. They were set up tightly and they looked secure for almost the whole game. If we want to be thought of as top 4 contenders then we need to start acting like a top four club and stop investing in journeymen or players out wide who are never going to be the difference.

We missed three sitters. The finishing was the problem

We created chances but didn't take them, Valdes made 3-4 good saves!! Anyway we shouldn't be too disappointed with a draw away from home.
BTW who are the journeymen you are referring too?
We had three efforts on target against Boro mate. If you think that's good enough then I don't know where to begin.

I can't see us getting top 6 in the near future, them clubs are just gonna keep strengthening and the managers are getting more settled, we are too tight fisted and ameturish as a club to ever compete with the top 6.

They kept us at arms length all game nearly.

What's the point in denying we need more creativity up front? Will that do us any great service to offer an excuse rather than face up to the blindingly obvious fact that we need a playmaker?

Illogical - we were the 4th highest spenders in Europe in the last window. Usual knee jerk after a draw away..

Boro have a good defensive record this season and we created golden opportunities, it's not like our shots were speculative 40 yarders. We created enough to win, just we'rent clinical enough
How did we create enough to win when if both teams had taken their obvious chances it'd have been 2-2?

Ok mate, fair enough. If you're saying that all is well in terms of creativity up front and you're happy with what we've got then I accept that.

You've just claimed I said something I haven't David
