Ronald Koeman discussion

Was only talking about that yesterday at half-time. Baines nailed the tactics with: "it’s a massive pitch and we’re making it bigger”

Harrowing video, that.

The players at the point knew he was gone, You only had to look at the league performances

Thinking about the utter lizard makes me want to volley my dogs off the roof into oncoming traffic

That passage of play leading up to winning the penalty against Southampton

I think if you sat Koeman down and asked him how he'd want us to play, he'd point to that

At the end of the day, he played for Barcelona and one of the best Dutch teams of all time, so he understands and appreciates good football

I think when he got here he saw how lax we were at doing simple things and decided to go "back to basics" with an aim for getting us back to a standard level of competence again. Now we're pretty much there, he can start getting us to be a bit more creative and move the ball on the floor a bit more, and I reckon he will do this more and more as he gets the players he wants and builds confidence within the squad

Hope so Michael, I still have nightmares of our October - December style of play.

I don't know why i'm replying to be honest Dave but here goes.

I would take this season over anything the last two dished up. I really couldn't bear another season of calamitous defending and getting beaten by absolute no marks of the league. There was no joy in it at all, from the players to the fans and everywhere in between. Martinez' pressers were an absolute parody of what they should have been.

Yes we are out of the FA cup and league Cup early but at least we have a platform we seem to be building from. For big parts of the last two seasons i really feared for where the club was going to end up. At least now we can go to the game and enjoy the real possibility of coming away with the three points each week.

Onwards and upwards.....even the fear of Lukaku leaving doesn't dread me with fear like it once would have done. We are becoming a proper team and in time i really feel we will be challenging right at the top.
Well for the most part you had the ball bag players to thank for those experiences mate.

Look at it another way: RM also gave you the best season full of winning and attractive football you've had since the 1980s. It was worth it just fr that.

Boring.

3-4 at home to Stoke?

#entertainers.

Domestic cups are a lottery as the last three seasons have proved? Two third round exits with Bobby Brownshoes (West Ham and Swansea) prove that.

European competition rewards quality and consistency and I reckon this year has been a big improvement on two years of tosh served up by RM. Don't really derstand the fascination with the man but hey ho! Europe here we come.
