I actually like the honesty in his comments today and am reassured by the "we" and "one day".
Although I'm not liking that basically he's another clubs' man, beggars can't be choosers and overall I like him and like having him. Also, those words in the context they were said are not the words of a man who is about to leave.
What a disgusting manager Martinez was looking back. Then he leaves and takes millions with him in compo. Surprised he has the nerve to show his face in public. Looking forward to his demise with the Belgium's before he ends up at Wigan again.
Koeman has been brilliant for us. Agree with a number of posters on here, shifting the dead wood is the priority which he is doing. He has an air of confidence and no nonsense, a refreshing change from the clown Martinez with his smoke and mirrors.
The one thing that worries me with Everton is, we hear this summer is going to be big, we're going to sign player that will be the envy of others and just like last year it's a shambles and Valencia comes in on loan. Can't help but think this will be the same this year.
I've never understood why we don't do what some of the other clubs do and sign/line players up before the window opens. We mess about and kick start the season before we get players on board.
With Europe starting early we need to have reinforcements bedded in as soon as possible. Go and make a statement to make the footballing world stand up.
so RK would like the Barca job, well so would nearly every other manager
Surely it's pretty clear at this point that the first season under Martinez was a happy accident whereby Martinez's penchant for attacking meshed perfectly with a defence that was still solid as a rock from Moyes's time in charge. The fact that we got worse the longer Martinez was there really says it all.Don't agree with you entirely as Martinez in his first season was excellent. You cannot possibly fluke a whole season purely because you inherit a squad, and there were many occasions in that first season where Martinez' ideas were positive and he even proved a lot of doubters wrong with changing games with positive substitutions that weren't necessarily popular with the fans. I clearly remember our fans groaning at his decision to bring on Osman in the away game at Aston Villa for example (myself included). Osman came on for Barkley in the 60th minute, and changed the game, getting an assist and a goal to win us the game:

Fast forward to a year later and the same Martinez who had been a breath of fresh air the season before stood on the sideline without making a single subsitution as we slumped to a 0-3 defeat at the hands of Southampton who were on a 5 game losing streak:

He became far too subborn and got carried away with the hype and believed he could now do no wrong. The 2 seasons after his first were shambolic and he set us back considerably and that is where I agree with your disgust for him.
We're now back to where we were pretty much and there can be no excuses from the board this year. We have the money, we will be playing in Europe next season and we have hugely ambitious plans for the future. Koeman, Moshiri and Walsh need to get it right this time and they can't hide behind excuses like they did last summer. It could be a very exciting summer though if it turns out how we hope.
I agree with this although the comments are like a politicians , deliberately imprecise and could be used equally by those for and against him. My interpretation is he knows he's not seriously in the running this time but he wants to let them know he definitely wants the job in the future. Also I think he's telling them to judge him on his current project, us.I actually like the honesty in his comments today and am reassured by the "we" and "one day".

By saying that he is basically throwing his hat into the ring for the job. Come calling and I can't refuse etc.
I like honesty but sometimes it can be too much. It's nothing we don't already know but I'm sure we would be better off with a manager saying he would rather be here than anywhere else than effectively this is a stepping stone. Next time he is unemployed he can big up his relationship with Barca as much as he wants.
I would say its more a 'monitor my progress at Everton' then when/If i achieve something giz a bell.By saying that he is basically throwing his hat into the ring for the job. Come calling and I can't refuse etc.

I'd like to manage Barcelona at some point.
