Ronald Koeman discussion

Every job is a stepping stone to something isn't it? Who here is in the same job since leaving school (unless you've just left, or left to start a wealth business venture)? That's what ambition is. Hopefully he achieves something with us before taking his next pay rise.

I would say its more a 'monitor my progress at Everton' then when/If i achieve something giz a bell.

Unfortunately until we start achieving we will always be a stepping stone for players and managers.

I don't disagree lads, but my point is that when you are a manager of a football club you become sales person no.1 whether you like it or not. I would like to hear him expand on the exciting project and maybe say I've been a part of big clubs before but Everton are something special. Say players would love this environment to work in, it may be all lies but that might attract better players, that will then make his life easier to get eventually snapped up by a club like Barca. (& as a nice side effect make us better!)

It's not like managers sign for life and they have to wait to be poached by a bigger club. Plenty of time to give gushing statements about other teams inbetween jobs.

I just don't think outwardly it looks great when the triple R's all don't seem to be in the here and now. We've improved our position, look to have a bit of cash, got back into Europe, so we should be attractive to players but we seem just as disjointed as ever.

I could manage Barcelona into the top 3 in that league.

Finishing top 4 in the Prem with Everton next season would be a bigger achievement than winning la liga with that Barca side.

If he can do that, and get us a trophy.. Crack on Ronnie and I would wish you all the best.

Agree there!

All part of the growing process, see City.

Much as I like him, I'm not really down with Everton managers talking about other jobs whilst they're here. Gives out the image we're a stepping stone club with stepping stone players (which we are but maybe that's the problem). If players think that the manager is only here for his CV and that Rom is only here for his CV, who is running through the brick walls for Everton?

The ones we boo less

I don't need a manager to tell me my clubs fantastic , I already know.
I don't need a manager to feign affection for my club ,I despise insincerity
I don't need a manager with a previous connection with the club, that is incidental.
I want a manager who is experienced enough and capable of leading us to success.
I expect that manager to be dismissed the moment our performance drops below expectations.
I don't want a manager to stay for too long, that breeds complacency.
I want the succeeding manager to be able to take over a successful side ,not a failing one.
My loyalties lie with the club and the fans , not with the manager or any individual player.
Simple. ;)

I see nothing wrong with what RonKoe said. He SHOULD want to manage his home country and his club team, which is one of the biggest in Europe.

That being said, he realizes in order to do either, taking Everton into the Top 4 of the PL is a pre-requisite. At that point it's a win/win - if we're in the Top 4, we'll attract big time managers to replace him if he departs. If we don't reach the Top 4, he probably doesn't get a look from Barca.

It doesn't have to be a zero sum game

I loved Tim Cahill. A lot. But we didn't actually win a pot with him did we?

I want players (and managers) who want to and have won things. It's the only way we will ever all be happy.

In fairness getting 4th, a cup final, and European football a couple of times was pretty good considering what went before him and since. Least he speared the RS a few times which is more than this bunch of cowards have.

How is it that an Australian will practically die for the club, spends his career with us, and tatoos our name on him, same with Ferguson a Scot, yet Rooney Rodwell and now seemingly Barkley don't seem to give one about us.
