Ronald Koeman discussion

He looked a perplexed and beaten man in that interview, but tonight wasn't a surprise to any of us who've watched all of our games so far this season. Just another shambles to follow another shambles, there's something gone horribly wrong in that dressing room imo. A spanking at United and he's under massive pressure

I can't put my finger on what it could be, they're his players, some whom have played for him in the past. It's a shambles and it does have that hallmark of "we're not playing for you"

I think he lost hope as he knew what was coming. Unsworth is apparently furious with the way Koeman has handled the transfer window as well as he isn't giving the impressive youngsters a chance (Kenny, Dowell, etc.). It surely affected Davies mentally this season seeing 3 AM's come in.

i cant stand Koeman, but what the hell has the transfer window got to do with Unsworth???

4-21 in the shots on target stats over the last 3 games, that is tremendously terrible.

It's clear he has his favorites and that'll be confirmed when Rooney and Schneiderlin start on Sunday, there's no way Sigurdsson can succeed while Rooney is here, any manager worth his salt should have known that and not brought both in.
You do wonder if that's one of the many problems. Rooneys performances have been better than most, but he shouldn't be anywhere near our best player. Sigurdsson, being generous, hasn't found his feet yet. Not sure he can play both him & Rooney if/when he does.
Schneiderlin has made picking a midfield much easier, shouldn't be getting a start. If only Koeman realised it.
Wonder if he's become unsettled having been bough last season as an important part of the 'project' only to see another 17 brought in addition.

I think Koeman deserves some more time.

He has earnt that whilst in charge of us thus far.

The performances are worrying; there is loads wrong right now but I simply cant lay all the blame at Ron's door.

1- no striker. Sorry but that falls down to Moshiri/BK/Walsh.
2 - transfer policy - who is doing the buying? I know were told its 'joint' decisions but I cant understand why the CB,LB and CF issue werent resolved and why we bought three players to play in the number ten role. Koeman spoke about the need for at least two of these to be filled so again, I struggle to hold the blame for this at his door.

Where I can lay the blame with Koeman is the right back issue; I cant understand why Kenny isnt given a chance and why Martina is at the club.
I also dont believe he knows his best eleven right now and the team is suffering for this. There doesnt seem to be any strategy/formation.
I also worry slightly that Rooney is being shoe horned into the team rather than play him as centre forward. Our lack of width is testament to this.

I think if were still seeing these results and performances in November time then its probably time to give up on the manager as a run of performances like this will suggest the players have given up on him.

Win at UTD (however unlikely) and everything is rosey again. Get battered and the knives are well and truly out.

Good managers make average players look better than they are, and bring out the talents of great players. Bad managers make average players look poor and great players look average. Which type of manger is Koeman? Ask yourself has he made one player a better player with his coaching?

Agree. Siggy needs to play behind Rooney who needs to play up top. Get Lookman/Vlasic on one side of them for pace.

And how many of them are actually any good? Or should we just go into a cycle of sacking poor managers only to bring in sombody equally as bad or slightly worse?
That type in bold was from someone else's post that I was replying to. I messed up my response to that poster, so apologies for any confusion.
But in reply to what you say -
I wouldn't want us to go into such a cycle mate. It rarely works. And, as you say, who fits the bill? But, I am starting to get concerned with whats happening right now. Time and patience are needed but I'm not seeing any positive shoots of a team forming here. Maybe after Sunday, the next 4 home games gives us a chance to build confidence and gel. But, under current circumstances no game is easy as some would appear to imply.

Get 3 in the midfield and make Davies one of them. If Rooney, Gylfi and Klassan can't adapt then the bench awaits

He's gone a bit round hole, square peg. I hated Martinez for the same tactics week in, week out when it clearly wasn't working. He's doing the same

Maybe they're just mystified at his selections and seemingly unfathomable tactics? But there's nowhere near the energy, desire and commitment that we saw from his side last season. Usually when there's any whiff of disgruntlement in the dressing room and the manager is under massive pressure, it only ends one way. If they play like that on Sunday it'll be a cricket score ffs.
