Ronald Koeman discussion

Oh thank God, so do we have a better chance of winning something with a manager who has won 9 MAJOR trophies or a manager who hasnt managed a single top flight team and has won NOTHING?
A past has been who hasn't won anything for a decade and who has blown £200 million assembling a dogs dinner of a squad whilst alienating half a team, working part time & jetting off to play golf? Personally I'll go with a young progressive coach, who bleeds blue, for half a season as a caretaker to see what he can do.

This is not a time to panic. Results and more importantly performances have been poor, the manager certainly has not covered himself in glory . But, now is the time to stay cool, let the management team get on with their work, let them correct the mistakes they have made, let the new players settle.

However, I do think that a lot of the signings in time will prove to be very good players even though they may be struggling at the moment.

I do think that missing Bolasie, Coleman and Barkley are huge losses for us at the moment.

As bad as the results have been we are one point behind the same fixtures from season 2016/2017 and we finished seventh then.

Appointing Unsworth ,who has no experience of coaching 1st team football at any level and is anonymous beyond Finch Farm, would be a second rate appointment and a tacit acceptance of our second rate status.

So, the "rumour" was that Koeman didn't like to really do training with the lads because "that's what the coaches are for". He also didn't like doing the transfers because thats what the board and DoF are for. He also doesn't like spending time with the youth team because that's what the youth setup is for.

If true, and he's pretty much bombing right now, how much would it really hurt to sack him? He sets the team up, incorrectly, for almost every match this year. It's said he doesn't have any bearing on transfers or training.

I dunno, I don't like him but I don't think it's time(close) to say 'sack him'.

Appointing him as an interim caretaker manager would be much, much less second rate than rushing an unadventurous, 'safe' manager asap. In terms of how it looks I mean, I really don't know how well he'd do.

Sound then, lets get Alan Stubbs in, a young progressive coach who bleeds blue, rather than a multiple winner.

Everton for the Everton!

What has Kendall ever managed when hired mate by us first time - was it two seasons with Blackburn in what was the 3rd/2nd division , as a manager what had he won, compared to say Walter Smith who'd won 7 league titles on the bounce.

Hiring any manager is a risk outside of the absolute elite level and even then it can and does go wrong at times.

Not advocating it btw just giving perspective.

Please avoid comparing the 80s to the Premier League Era of football, theres a good chap.

I don't think so. As I've said give him half a season and see how he goes. What was second rate was appointing Koeman, who was never more than an average manager, in the first place. Keeping him on now would be utterly lacking in ambition as he's never going to get us into the top 4 or challenging for the league in my opinion.

I almost want him to be given 6months, imagine the respect the senior pros would show to a man like Unsworth.

lollollol

You might have a point in saying that Chelsea and United will more than likely "finish 1st 2nd and 3rd" but there is no way on God's green earth Spurs are going to finish above where City finish.

No way.

Before the start of the season I did an exact order top 4 bet of City, Chelsea, United, Spurs. Fairly happy with that based on what I've seen so far.
