Ronald Koeman discussion

It's all opinions. If Martinez had been given a chance, I very much doubt he'd have gone for Williams & Bolasie (neither top 6 quality or worth half of what we paid).

I've seen enough to form an opinion. The dross against Ruzumberok & Split was bad enough. Atalanta was the final nail in the coffin for me. I just want him gone immediately. Why wait until we're mid table & out of Europe?

But Martinez wasn't 'given a chance' as it had been tosh for two years, not four games!

Bolasie has been missing for nine months but during his time on the pitch was one of our better performers and you can bet we'd have been a much different threat - especially away from home - had he been fit.

Williams likewise was a stop gap and just because he's started this season poorly doesn't mean he wasn't good for large parts of last season. Yes prone to the odd error but overall helped sure our defence up from being one of the worst to I think the fourth best in the league...

The Ruzumberok games were pre-season. If you're seriously judging those performances I despair. We did what we needed to do with players who were still getting fit.

The first leg of Split was fine - and excellent in the first half. The second leg was a much different game at a difficult venue in 27 degrees heat and we came through it.

We looked to be building a bit of momentum with a good performance against City but the Chelsea game and a poor end to the window halted that.

Since then we haven't been able to pick it back up again and had a dreadful week.

You're acting like the season's already over. It's one group game out of six ffs and you're already saying we'll be out of Europe?

How long does a chance mean? How many divisions down before anyone admits he was - over his whole tenure - crap. He had every chance and you can list the bad players he bought and compare them if you wish. Personally I'd prefer to give our new recruits more than 6 weeks in the squad to judge them. Every manager signs duff players, its how many that are duff that determines their success or failure. On nearly every account it is too early to judge the majority of the signings whilst Koeman has been in charge.

The irony of saying 'Martinez wasn't given a chance' and then in the same breath asking for Koeman's head after a poor run of games must be lost on them.

I'm not saying the pressure shouldn't be on him. It certainly should, as his decisions over the past few games have been awful and while there are certainly other factors, there's no excuse for it.

But it's not a sackable offence yet in any way, and a change now wouldn't help in the slightest IMO.

Massive game tonight. COYB

Whichever way you look at it...

We lost to Chelsea 2-0, Spuds 3-0, Atlanta 3-0... then had a crisis meeting and followed it up by losing 4-0 in a spectacular late game meltdown.

Improvement is needed. Now.

Martinez should have gone before the cup semi final. The 'performance' at Anfield just days earlier should have set the scene for that.

Koeman has been torpedoed by a dreadfully ill thought out transfer strategy. Who was responsible for that is debatable.

I don't think this is all on Koeman though.

He has made some dodgy decisions and yes that's his fault.

But the board have also failed him in two key areas as well, an
Even 3 of those 4 defeats came against quality opposition. If we'd just played Burnley, Bournemouth and Brighton then I'd be a lot more worried.

Let's face it. We are very much a team in transition and the last thing you need in that situation is to be coming up against quality players who can really exploit it.
We're in transition haha the clichés you here from Everton supporters is never ending, give it a rest, we've been in transition since 2012
