Ronald Koeman discussion

There was a point in the first half of tonight's game when Martina moved forward even though his man was going in the opposite direction which opened up that whole side of the pitch. At that point alarm bells should have gone off but they didn't. If one player can take a manager down then it is Koeman's willingness to allow Martina to play when he is clearly not Premier League standard.

he is barely championship standard

Also, in the 2nd half we had a throw in right by their corner flag. A couple of passes later it was with pickford. Very odd how many of our passes go backwards.
Would be interested to see how our statistics of backward passes so far this season line up with our previous entire seasons'.

Whatever happens with Koeman this team needs much more investment; which is a painful statement to have to make given our highest summer spend ever. Simply not a good enough team for where we supposedly want to be. The question is now we've lost most of our saleable assets, will Moshiri provide the funds required?
Well, I can't see it when he hasn't really bank-rolled this year's spend has he? Most of this year's spend was because of the Lukaku sale, and probably Stones too.

Very doubtful. The more you think about it the more Villa this situation gets and that's what worries me the most.

If we get rid of Koeman and the next managerial appointment is a shocker we could easily find ourselves in relegation battles in the not too distant future.

Agreed. Hence why calls for Unsworth are premature. That's not even a knock on him, I wouldn't wish this job on him at the moment and it's naieve to assume he's ready for this. Let him continue to develop where he is. It's not like a new manager magically brings an accomplished striker with him is it? Nothing is going to truly get fixed until January (even then I'm sceptical) , until then it's damage limitation.

Believe me when I say that I take no pleasure in saying this but right now we're in the position where pundits and fans say "Allardyce would sort them out and keep them up". I die a little inside writing that but it's true. And no, that's not me saying bring in Fat Sam, it's me saying that if we don't start getting things right on and off the field we're going to be in an even more precarious position than we are now.

No Manager will do much better with this misfit squad. Who are we kidding?

If Koeman was mainly responsible for assembling it, he then needs to join Walsh out the door who must surely be on his last legs.

Probably but unfortunately whoever takes over is inheriting a bit of a mess right now. I'd still give him time to turn it around.

Not bothered either way, just fearful about what type of manager we'd bring in next.

The way I see it is to grab Ancelloti right now and say, heres a load of money, sort this out, and here's a ton of money in January for players.

The squad is a misfit but getting someone in to put a bit of a feel good factor into the club will make a massive difference to the player confidence.
