How about Unsworth with arteta as assistant manager?

Arteta is certainly really highly regarded by all accounts and it'd give him a next step up from city importance wise...

I thought this with Arteta, he's very highly rated. I imagine Joe Royle would be involved in an informal setting, and John Ebbrell would step up witH Unsworth as a loyal leftenent. The left field fella I'd like to see would be Lee Carsley coming to get involved as well.

I love Duncan but I wonder if his development as a coach is being stunted by just being a first team could. I think he'd a great successor to taking the under 23's.

Loved Dunc as a player, but honestly mate, the love in about him is based entirely on him as a player rather than any semblance of knowledge about him as a coach, my worry is he's been part of two absolutely shocking managerial teams back to back now.

He's either just a show pony for the fans in coaching terms - in which case you have to wonder why he's stuck it out in that position, or he's actively involved in the coaching and has put up with both these last two managers methods - in which case you have to wonder why yet again.

Ferguson in many ways represents a lot of what is wrong with us as a club - hero worshipping a player based on very little achievement and more based on him being a right [Poor language removed] on the pitch (but a true blue one)

I fear you may be right. He was lauded at under 18's and Sheedy spoke very well of him. When I see him he looks unsure of himself, probably that he doesn't deserve to be there and I am not sure he exerts his influence as much as someone like Unsworth would he seems much happier in his own skin. For Fergusan I think running the 23's would be a step forward for him, grow his confidence and give him a chance to pitch himself as Unsworth has, sink or swim so to speak.

In any business I like getting people who know the institution working for it. Seeing the academy not just as a breeding ground for players, but also coaches (particularly those who have come through that system) is very positive and unique in English football. I do think though, where appropriate the opportunity to take the top job should be an option. This is the essence of what Barcelona and Ajax did to re-build themselves, in many ways from a similar starting point to the current Everton.

I think the getting people who know a club managing it gives you a small advantage, maybe 10% but football is often about small margins.

I am definitely on board with getting Arteta back. Ebbrell is a loyal leftenant of Unsworth and I think they should target Carsley. I think that management team, with Royle perhaps acting as a father hen could do very well. We should also remember our most successful teams have come under the guidance of former players, often taken a little from left field. I don't think thats just a coincidence.
