Ronald Koeman discussion

Clearly we are bigger than Soton, but don't forget, we've tempted a man away from European football here.

He must see something worth doing here.

CL here we come.
Given last year's attempt - he's happy to miss it this year.
So all those pictures of him with the Everton gear on his hols were last week yeah?

While he still technically managed Saints?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
no - he's back on holiday.

This is all about ambition. Ambition of the club's owners, ambition of the management team, ambition of the players and of course the ambition of us, the fans. For too long in the past, there have been those in each of these departments that have wavered and settled for the "safety" of mediocrity. They were actually scared to death of ambition, because it required too much of a leap of faith, and that it was too much of a financial risk for those holding the purse. Now, it would appear, we have someone not afraid of pulling out his wallet and reaching for the stars. Thank you, Mr Moshiri, your determined nature should be an inspiration to others. In Mr Koeman, we have a man full of ambition, as proven in his record, a CV that would impress any club in the world. The guy is ambitious, and with that comes a certain selfishness. There is very little loyalty in football (3 years is a long time these days), especially when it is pitched against ambition. Nothing wrong with that. Let him bring it on. Infect our club with the same hunger.
The bitterness we will get from saints fans is understandable, after all, it always hurts when the love of your life turns to somebody else. At least the manner of the courtship was about as good as it could be, unlike our own experience of a past love, who ended up having a secret affair with a certain Scotsman, all the while still getting his jollies at home! Then, still on the rebound, we were swept away by a suave Spanish guy in brown shoes, with the gift of the gab, who promised us poetic excellence, but could only deliver phenomenal lines of meaningless, misspelt words of empty hope. Needless to say, our club was in desperate need of a hefty injection of real, tangible hope. Money is one thing, and ambition is another. This now feels like we are beginning to put the two together. Welcome Mr Koeman! Whatever happens next, let it not be through any lack of ambition.

Given last year's attempt - he's probably happy to skip the Europa league for now.

Oh my. Seems to have got us down really well. Win by playing good football. Yup ticks my boxes. Think he may have just pressed the big red button on his last tenure tho... not that i give a shizz.

Delighted, and 100% behind Ronald as we all should be. I'm not going to expect too much from his first year as he needs time, there is rebuilding to be done. Other side of the coin though, sorting out the defence alone should improve us a couple of positions, so we should be hitting 8th or so.

Also cheers to Esk for keeping us all sane over this saga, without his tidbits our heads would've collectively exploded at the thought of Moyes, the downside to Everton now being a closed shop. Well done to Esk for not letting the naysayers and constant questions drive him mental either, in his position id of probably ended up banning half the forum and putting the other half on ignore.

No mate. If he does badly I'll claim I never wanted him anyway and use it to score points over fellow blues.
