Ronald Koeman discussion

Don't get this mate. You gave the clown Martinez 3 seasons even 4. And it seems you won't give Koeman a chance. It's only 11 games and we had a negative net spend this summer. I used your old quote, wait till the manager signs his team to play his bland of football then judge. The board most back him too.
Look mate, id really stop throwing that clown term around for a manager who gave us our best ever season when your defending a manager who's just overseen a disaster.

To the substantial point: I am referring to a SPECIFIC aspect here: the so called "sorted defence". It's not sorted and we can all see that to be the case.

Why stop calling a clown - a clown, though?

@davek

Yeah that's my fear - if it's just recycling the Lukaku money, we're in big trouble in the long term, as that would completely confirm Moshiri is a fraud. It needs to be well beyond that in terms of net spend.

Really don't see it happening.

To be fair to @davek, in hindsight we at least have a handful of buzzing great memories from Martinez's 3 years. 11th twice is poor and the defence was dire so we let him go. But Koeman hasn't yet demonstrated he's a convincing upgrade.

No doubt, that's not good, raises questions that need answers. We have a tricky December coming up and we find ourselves looking for a reaction. Swansea and Southampton must yield 4 points minimum or doubts will creep in. We have better players (in the main) than them so no excuses. Last thing Everton need right now is another fraud.

But it must be said when the other options were the likes of FDB, we shouldn't panic just yet, needs to be better though. Not good enough tonight from start to finish, we lack zest.

True the defense isn't sorted yet but you never gave Martinez any grief for two seasons worth of inept defending!

He made a bad situation a lot worse by bringing off Oviedo before half time as the mistakes did not come from his side and Funes Mori was worse because he isn't a full back.

But ok, that's football.

Same old every time - it's because either the opposition were good or we were unlucky, nothing about how bad we were.

Wouldn't surprise me nor annoy me if this was his only season in charge.
Wish we had Begovic in goal tonight mate. Do you?

I hope this is not gonna be a recurring thing everytime we go the big boys grounds, City now Chelsea we totally crapped ourselves, our defence were on their own no help whatsoever from midfield, Jagielka was the only one who looked as though he gave a toss

What's he said?
Everton boss Ronald Koeman, to BT Sport: "They played very well, I expected more from my team. It was a big difference in every aspect.

"It was not about the system, the difference was the mentality to win the game With five defenders we control it, after 2-0 it was over.

"You have to accept sometimes n life your opponent is by far the better team.

"It is a difficult system to play against, the big difference with Chelsea is they have the winning mentality and quality on the ball. They were far too strong for Everton."

Dave, this was exactly the same performance that we witnessed far to much last 18 months. The mentality at the club is wrong and everyone, and I mean everyone, should be shipped out and a full rebuild on.
