I know baines would likely speak well of an incoming manager, but I thought the words he used were telling of the position the team found themselves in last season. There was a sense of relief that we have moved on but appointed someone that comes with high regard.

Would make sense, Koeman would want the youngsters playing in the same way he wants the first team, that way we develop youngsters to fit the first team in time.

A DOF identifies the people and brings them in (I know there would be more to his role) the manager then ensures they meet the expectations either in the first team or develops them to reach that point.
