Ronald Koeman discussion

Interesting he spoke a lot about team spirit. Something clearly lacking towards the end of last season. Implied from that, I feel, is that if any player indicates they want to leave and this could impact team spirit then they will be moved on.

He seemed very impressed by our 0-3 win over his team at the start of last season. He will be very aware of what this group of players he has inherited are capable of. It is about fine tuning and getting that belief and consistency on a regular basis.

No nonsense, no BS. Seemed a touch nervous but that's understandable. All in all I loved what he had to say.

He made a few standout comments that are just the polar opposite of a Martinez answer. Massive relief.

But can someone clarify the situation with Southampton and Joining Everton that was talked about near the start?

On Lukaku....'he needs to improve...'

YES RONALD

Caught that from him as well mate, a good choice of words about him, also like the fact he said about stone 'we will be good support for the boy' - bit of a different attitude to Martinez, Gravitas of having someone with Koemans record in charge really hit home with those two phrases in particular, basically two young players who so far are all potential and havent achieved anything compared to a manager who has won everything their is. Those talks will be very interesting i feel

He is honest, to the point no bs. And knows its winning that counts not talking.

I like him.

there's a fine line with managers who either talk up a player too much or rip into them. I think a few of ours might be out on their arse in double quick time but I can definitely see the likes of Coleman, Jags, Mori, Baines, Barry, Mccarthy and such really taking to him and for the majority of those mentioned, finding their top form again.

I always thought he spoke a lot more fluent English than that, not sure it'll be an issue but it didn't seem to be very comfortable for him.
Having played a lot of football in Spain and managing in England, I would also have though his English would be better. Having spent a lot of time in Holland, I would say he sounds like every middleaged dutch person. Clear accent, but fully understandable.

Hopefully he will sort out our "schloppy defending" !!
