He's bang on. The football we play mostly is long ball. It's horrible. We are so predictable. I hate watching us at the moment.

They played more long balls than us - their goal came from one. Ours didn't.

It's a stop gap. We're bypassing a midfield that has been utterly turd for two seasons.

But, for this to work effectively, we need more players up top.

We tried the sexy football route last 2years with the same players practically,they weren't much good at that either.

As I said earlier in the thread, seems a lot of people were in a coma from February until May this year.

But the players need to step up. They at least showed yesterday that there's a bit of fight and pride left in them.

Going to be interesting mate whether he starts with 2 up top against Watford, think if he doesn't he is just going to leave himself wide open again for a lot more criticism.

Only time will tell, but Koeman generally got the balance right between ball players and stoppers at Southampton.

I would expect him to bring in a few midfielders that are a bit more like what we became used to pre-Martinez over the next two windows.

They don't have to be super-expensive worldbeaters, either. Clasie and Romeu would look like Guti and Redondo in this team.

Ashley Williams is an old school defender, he aint got no time for tiki taka, his job is to clear his lines, which means hes gonna punt it as far away from his own goal as possible.

Basic defending, nobody ever scored a goal when the ball is 50 foot in the air.

Some of the players are to blame definitely but, with respect, i'm not having that Ashley Williams - having played at the best 'small' club for possession football for years - has abandoned everything he knows and is good at to launch the ball forward of his own accord.

That's come from the manager. But why?

With one up front and pace on the wings, why is he telling Ashley Williams to launch it?

He wont mate. He went that way yesterday because he was looking at a chorus of boos for another toothless hoofball performance and so threw the kitchen sink on the pitch in the hope it'd hit something.
