Ronald Koeman discussion

Great stuff. They won a few games by running up some goals. Buy how does that cut across what I posted? They were a team that played it long and swung in a lot of crosses. It was basic up and at 'em stuff. There's no point in comparing them with Martinez's outfit at their best. The latter were confident throughout the team on the ball and could move it around. You can contrast them both, but you cant compare them.

Southampton didn't 'play long'.

They were quick and direct.

They had a midfield full of energy and wingers who played as forwards (Mane/Long) to stretch the opposition, giving their CF (usually Pelle) space to link and hold up play.

Martinez's first season was top-class, though as we got towards the end looking back, the same errors that we would go on to see for the next two seasons started creeping in.

Said it before, koeman has an air of Rodgers about him so far.

Lifting existing styles at clubs and adopting them a little bit to good success. No real ideas of his own, apart from pressing but we don't do that anyway. Unless he is allowed to massively overhaul the squad to change that opinion then what is the difference between Rodgers playing Swansea tactics at them lot and koeman playing martinez tactics (2 holding) here?

The point is to play football as it should be played...and if you think seeing Barkley, Lukaku, Deulofeu and Mirallas all at pace carrying the ball to the opposition is tippy tappy you evidently dont know what tippy tappy is.

See that away annihilation of Wolfsburg a few seasons back at their place?...never in a million years would Moyes or this new feller be able to carry out such a game plan.

As said, we all know Roberto wasn't the real deal in the end, but FFS could he set up a team to attack the opposition with flair and aggression.

I despair that we'll never see footy of that nature again for years and years.

We already haven't seen it for years

Literally

The Clone wars, I like it.

But, first we have the January battle of bed wetters versus excuse makers. Can the excuse makers recover from the horrific defeat on deadline day when they got over ran by the bed wetters.

Of course we can.

Im not gonna lie, we took a heavy, heavy defeat, but the bed wetters tails are up and they are gonna leave their jaws hanging.

We are out of excuses this window, well almost, we still have the "Nobody spends loads of money in the Winter" joker to play, lets hope we dont need it.

Its gonna be glorious.

Yes, that's the main tower " Nobody spends big in January " and " You don't get good value for money in January "

I want a good clean fight, battle lines built up nice and fair to deadline day.

The early signings of Schnederlin of Depay would create an early rush and possibly crush the bedwetters from the off.

Exciting battle is the forecast.

Nar, nothing will be done early, this is Everton yano and the ball is firmly in Uniteds court with these 2 boys, you are talking last day for those 2 players, infact loads of the bed wetters have already started with the "We need to get players in on 1st January".

They will have their dates ready to go.

"Its 3rd Janaury and we havent signed anyone"
"We need players before we play LC in the FA cup"
"What date does Gana go to the ANC"
"OMG we lose Gana tomorrow and we havent signed anybody"
"6 defeats in 6 games and we havent signed a player"

And so on.

Completely wasting your time mate.

He has no idea how Southampton played as he spends 95% of his existence on here trying to convince everybody his parallel universe is real.

I was a believer as well once.

Never again...

Nah, in all fairness, Dave makes some good points at times. Just not on this occasion.
