Sorry Zat. You may dislike the guy but to say he's never done it for Argentina is ridiculous. He's dragged them through countless games. And you don't think teams are set up to showcase Ronaldo's talents? Of course teams are built around exceptional talents. I can't stand Ronaldo but I can see that he's a stunning, once in a generation talent (fortunately for all football fans living through this era, it's actually twice in a generation) Personally, I think Messi's not just a better player than Ronaldo, I think he's miles better.

I think both Barca and Argentina have been totally focused on Messi with no real 'plan b'.

Argentina have suffered because of this focus and i think they would have done a lot better if he was just a cog in a system.

On the flip side Barca have had fantastic success of course with everything going through Messi.

Ronaldo is different level. Hes been at United, Real and Juve and shown he can do it in 3 different leagues + for Portugal.

At United Ronaldo and Rooney were the main guys, at Real yes he was the main man, at Juve its him and Dybala.

Top quality.

You really think Messi would be scoring 13 goals a season in England or Italy? Tbh, I think both him and Ronaldo would struggle now with the physical side of the Prem. However, there is no doubt in my mind that Messi at his peak (19 to 29 years old) would have absolutely taken the piss in the Prem. He would have made Andrei Kanchelskis look like Kevin Kilbane.

Weve no idea how Messi would have done...we only know that Ronaldo did it.

In the premier league I'd currently take Ronaldo, id also back Ronaldo to be player of the year in the premier league even playing for Everton.

Messi would need a City or a team setup for him.

Here we go. One Protected club never won nearly as much as Ronaldo toys out the pram can’t carry a team Messi Lovers in full force.

Not fit to lace Ronaldos boots and this latest episode proves it.

Also like it's a crime that Ronaldo was laser focussed on achieving his position at the top of the football world. For the record I don't know why you can't like both. Now they're both towards the end of the reign as the best, I tend to favour Ronaldo.

Back on topic, can't wait for Moonhead's trail of destruction to gather more momentum.

What did Cristiano do with Portugal mate?

His goal return at international level is not better than Messi’s.

Unless you mean standing on the sidelines cheering on his teammates to beat France in the final of the Euros?

Neither have delivered in the World Cup.

Now contrast this with Ronaldo, who at 60 or 70% of what he was, top scored in the 2002 World Cup, a World Cup that Brazil had badly struggled to qualify without him, and won the trophy.

Talent wise Messi is the best I’ve seen (but for Higuain missing when clean through vs Germany he would have also pocketed a World Cup winners medal, something Maradona may not have done had Burrachaga missed against W.Germany in ‘86). However, neither he nor the lesser Ronaldo delivered like Ronaldo.

We can talk about how if we added a Kanchelskis type player into our team we'd be looking at top 4 (he was that good).

Portuguese Ronaldo is better than Kanchelskis was and he's someone who has pushed himself to be as good as he possibly can be. A man who leads by example, a true icon of football. Real island boy story from Madeira to being one of the most recognised people on the planet.

You have Ronaldo in your team and players and fans all love him and look up to him. Again, like above with Kanchelskis, we would be in the top 4 with him.

Messi while obviously incredibly naturally talented has had sides totally setup for him. Im not sure how people can argue whether he would be better than Ronaldo in premier league or Italy as hes always stayed with Barca. Thats not a bad thing of course and shows loyalty but it also means hes not able to claim he would be amazing in any other top league.

I have no idea what impact he would have in a team not setup for him.

As for Brazilian Ronaldo...with him in our side we'd be knocking on the door of RS and City. He was that good. Give him the ball and watch him slalom past defenders for fun.

He'd probably score a goal or two a game thesedays now the rules on fouling have tightened up.

I think his agent has been bouncing around feeling clubs out about a deal...

...no ones bitten at the daft amounts he wants.

Now hes lashing out due to frustration trying to weasel himself back into everyones good books.

Total joker, hes never done it for Argentina and only for a team built around him.

Got nothing on Ronaldo.

Messi is a team player, with Ronaldo it's always got to be about him on the pitch otherwise he gets a titty lip. A good example is when one of the Madrid players had the audacity to make a run to meet a cross and tap the ball into the near post, whilst other madrid players went to celebrate with the lad the camera panned to Ronaldo who was on the edge of the six yard box throwing his arms in the air fuming because the lad didn't leave the ball for him to tap it in. He then just walked back to the center - circle without even acknowledging the lad who scored. He even sees his arse when someone doesn't pass to him.
