Messi Se Queda.

Doesn't want the drama of a court case. Feels Bartomeu has betrayed him.

Just done an interview with Goal slaughtering him and the club.

Can't wait for him to get Koeman sacked now.

Pretty sure Bartomeu went as far as saying he'd resign if Messi decided to say. There's more twists in this one, I'd imagine.
He won't go willingly. There's some arrangement where the Barca board members have to reimburse the club if they make a financial loss or something like that which would put him on the hook personally for millions apparently.

You said it was for money purposes in that he wanted more. But he's staying for money purposes in that Barcelona want a lot to let him leave which is a pretty crucial difference.

Nah not having that lad - he'll sign a new bumper contract just you wait.

He does a Rooney all the time - threatens to leave then signs a bumper deal.

No winners here.

Messi wanted to leave, but after all they have done for him (health wise too) he was never going to drag them through the courts.

Barca have got a very unhappy player, and a coach who is clueless when it comes to man management.

Next season is a write off for Barca and Messi.

It all comes down to the next elections. New fella (or Laporte) gets in, Xavi (or Pep) as manager, Messi could then be satisfied and stay beyond the season. If not then he’s off to the PL, but at 34.

Messi has come out of this looking dreadful.
I don't see how he has?

He believed he had a valid clause in his contract to nullify it "at the end of the season".

Barca is reneging on the clause under the belief that it refers to June 10th, regardless of the end of the season being delayed due to Covid.

It will be a long court case because of his value and he can't be bothered with it so he's staying.
