Ronald koeman . New barca manager.

As much as I didn't rate Niasse, his treatment under Moonhead was a disgrace. The fact that it was allowed also reflects badly on the upper management to permit it. As a club we come out very badly. I hope that for Barca's sake the same story is not repeated on the young Puig.

Very unsavoury character is Koeman.
I'd also be asking questions about the players. Surely someone would call him out on it?

This. If that was in virtually any other industry Koeman would’ve been knee deep in it with HR for treating an employee like that.

I’d happily take Puig here, just to rub it in Koeman’s stupid massive face when it turns out he’s boss

Received a heads-up on this one in the form of an instagram video from my son who is a Liverpool supporter.

From what I can gather, it looks as though the Kopites are having a field day on this one. On the face of it, however, I would agree that this is an appalling way of treating an employee.....or anyone.

However, and as I responded, there are always two sides to every story and none of us knows for sure whether this been taken out of context. And as I recall, Niasse was no angel when he arrived....I remember a couple of incidents involving Greater Manchester Police - one in which he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend - none of which bodes well for the Club, indeed, bringing it into disrepute. If it was Koeman who had to discipline him over those matters, I’ve no doubt it would grate with Niasse.

Ultimately, as I included in my response, it was Martinez who was the cause of all this, buying a player who he didn’t even have the courtesy to watch and who was totally out of his depth in this environment.

In doing so, he was neither fair to player nor Club.

No chance he can get away with that wrt Puig. But it is awfully strange that months ago he was singing the praises of Puig's profile and now as coach he proposes he is off on loan. Is that him or is that Bartomeu? Similar was done under Setien & Valverde so I am more of the thinking this is a board directive

His treatment if it was the result of disciplinary procedings is one thing. However he was never bought up on charges, so realistically what could the club do over that? It's awful behaviour if true but if nothing is made official, is it right for the club to investigate? Can the company you work for investigate you for how you conduct your life at home behind closed doors? The stuff at the end during Covid lockdown would have seen him hoofed out the door for me, but with a few weeks to go before his contract was up, it was probably the pragmatic choice.

I don't think we have a leg to stand on with the treatment of Niasse under Moonhead. I think we come out of this very badly as a club. I ain't no koppite so I can openly admit the club was at fault. Even though he might have earned more in a week than most of us do in a year, there is no need to not have treated him with a bit more dignity.

Anyway as an aside, he should have been loaned out more often, it might have been us picking up the majority of his wage but at least he wouldn't have been stinking the gaff out here. From all the rumour an innuendo about him knocking back loan deals, then this may have been impossible, but that does not excuse the whole situation. They'd have been better off sending him back to Senegal on full pay for all the good he was doing here on Merseyside and he might have been happier.

That makes me wonder if Koeman was being pressed by the board to make Niasse's time here sufficiently unbearable that the player would go elsewhere, even if it was only as a loan.

But then again the common denominator is Moonhead. If he's done it at Everton, no reason to suspect that he won't do it at Barca. I suspect that his ego is such that he thinks he is the giant in the dugout and once he has his control, he can do as he pleases.

With Barca in relative turmoil and needing to swap from the old guard to a new generation, with the addition of constrained finances due to Covid, I still for the life of me can see how he was the right choice. A diplomatic but firm man manager type was what was needed - and one that the fans could get behind as part of that role is to bring harmony back at the moment. Find that guy and things can return to normal. Koeman is too abrasive for that.

Well, Koeman knows the club and is respected/loved by the fan base. Is he a yes man? I have a hard time believing it but I thought the Puig situation has been handled poorly. Koeman has clarified his position after fan backlash on social media so it's still unclear if this is really him or Bartomeu.

He has us looking like a 4-2-3-1 rather than our preferred 4-3-3 but with no true #9 there is logic to it for now. A double pivot though is the thing of nightmares for cules, we'll see how/if he adapts as the season progresses. The good so far is that players talk of rigorous training (This might be more Schreuder than Ron, of course) and Henke is a wise addition to the coaching staff as well. Weaknesses I have seen in 3 matches under Koeman so far are the fullbacks which has been an issue since Alves' departure 3 seasons ago and the lack of a true #9. Else, a lot of positives

Nevertheless, a shame he has effectively stated Pedri & Puig are better served with loans when it's clear they have tremendous futures ahead of them with quality to provide even now

Of course, there's the Messi issue as well which is hard to stomach - hopefully something changes on this front, perhaps the vote of no confidence will tip things back in the club's favor with the ousting of Bartomeu

Would the long term futures of Pedri and Puig benefit from a loan elsewhere to play without having to deal with any probable fallout of the situation as it is now? Barca have the ability/ luxury to shield younger players against potentially ruinous situations that other clubs just can't afford to do.

Good luck on Messi/ Bartomeu - there'll be plenty of trouble brewing there. For me the best outcome may be an amicable farewell to Messi on Barca's terms over this and/ or next season, and Bartomeu to leave in a graceful manner.
