Ronald Koeman

Ronald Koeman...good choice for us?

  • yes, he'll get us top 6 and stability

  • no, it's uninspiring even if top 6 is back on

  • josé on toast

I think they'll be fine

So long as they reinvest the money made on player sales, they'll be a competitive Premier League side IMO

The club seems well run. Dropping Adkins for Pochettino shows they can spot a manager and aren't prepared just to rest on their laurels

If Koeman leaves and Moyes (Or even Emery) ends up going there, they'll solidify and keeping ticking along in the top flight

The club aren't especially ambitious, but they wouldn't stand for being whipping boys either, otherwise they'd've kept Adkins

I could even see them doing what Stoke have done, which is gain a place as a Top Division regular and then gradually start going for more ambitious signings. Stoke are coming up to 10 years in the division soon, and I couldn't fathom them going down at this point. They're a solid team who have signed some really good players recently. There's no reason that couldn't be Southampton in a couple of years

Like a lot of clubs...including us up to this season...they are one poor season/transfer window away from relegation.
Ask any Villa/Newcastle fan and they'll tell you that selling your best players year in/out means that you have to get it right with replacements.
Saints have done that two years on the trot and, has to be said, done it well. However, they are now losing the manager who bought these replacements...so no guarantee that should they sell again that the last two years relative success will continue.
Maybe it will...but after listening to the Texans who have come on here spouting their 'massive club' shabite..I hope they fail miserably

Just my opinion like

Either way he's definitely banging his sister

I'd rate winning the Bundesliga over winning the Eredivisie to be honest

Winning the Budesliga over Bayern Munich is probably more difficult to be fair

As a player, it's not even close though. Koeman has a Champions League/European Cup Winners medal. Klopp ain't touching that

I should have phrased it differently. Klopp has been far more successful in club football that Koeman. The three main leagues in Europe are the Bundesliga, La Liga and the Premiership. Koeman has had no great success in any of them until he got 6th with Southampton this season. Klopp we know all about.

I appreciate the fact that the bundesliga is a better league than the erdevisie and not taking anything away from Klopp.

But, Dortmund are not exactly an underdog either so let's not make out he took a rag bag outfit to being the second best side in Germany either

Imagine someone offering you a huge pay rise and an improved workplace and you going on your second holiday in the space of a month
Thats what saints fans aren't getting.
We are offering him about £4m a year more wages.
Lets say its a three year deal, thats £12m more money.
ANYONE would take it if it was offered to them.

Wasn't there a season when Bayern didn't even make the CL though? Wolfsburg, Stuttgart, Bremen all picked up a title in that period were Bayern were weak if I remember. So it's a bit of an oft pedalled line by Kopites 'he won titles over the mighty Bayern'. He won titles in a league with a power vacuum. As soon as Bayern started spending the proper cash again, they didn't get a sniff.

Evidently it was a disturbed holiday as he came back to sign the deal for us, but you would think he would be bursting to start?
