Ronald Koeman

Ronald Koeman...good choice for us?

  • yes, he'll get us top 6 and stability

  • no, it's uninspiring even if top 6 is back on

Koeman is flavour of the month, that's all. He couldn't even beat Martinez this season, we destroyed them down there, and put in one of the worst performances at home the other week and his Shane Long led frontline couldn't beat us. Not to mention his 6-1 home loss to the RS.

Finishing 7th or thereabouts is nothing to write home about, how many managers have done that with smaller clubs?
Pochettino finished 8th in his season with the Saints, season before he was released by espanyol when bottom of the table half way through the season. Wouldn't touch him with a barge pol now !?!?

Hi Evertonians!!

I've read through this thread and I have to say there are some deluded chaps amongst you. Ronald Koeman is not going to be your manager, he's reiterated his position (again) today, there is no chance he will be leaving us before next summer. He's happy here, why would he take a step down and join Everton? You were a big club once upon a time, but let's not kid ourselves, you're not exactly flying these days are you? Koeman will sign an extension next week, of that I am certain. He may well leave us next summer, but it will be for a proper big club HE'S THAT GOOD!!

Good luck with whoever you get....Brendan Rogers is available !

Great shout that lid, wish we went for George Burley the year Ipswich finished fifth now.

There are so many reasons why things don't work out at certain clubs. You'd be very hard pushed to find many managers who've succeeded everywhere, and even in those cases it's down to both luck and skill.

Koeman has done brilliantly in his last 2 jobs, it's been 7 years since he did a poor job anywhere. That suggests he's a man who learns from his mistakes and has improved as a manager.

If he's so keen on Southampton, why is he down to 1 year on his contract?
I'm sure he loves having his best players sold out from under him every summer.

Pay no mind to what he says. Managers are worse than politicians theses days, they wouldn't lie straight in their graves. He did a lot of squirming there and said what you might expect.

He's no fool. He knows that his stock is high now but might not be the case next summer. If he's made an offer, he'll jump.

Hi everyone, just wanted to make an account and apologise for the Saints fan that was on here earlier. Seems to be some bad blood starting between the two sets of fans which is a shame, and just not needed. 100% you are a bigger club then us, have been for many years now (all you have to do is look back over the past decade). You've got a good squad, new owner with money, and a big fan base. There's no doubt in any sane Saints fans head that if Koeman won't sign an extension this Summer then our board may not want to keep him for his last year, and he may well be tempted by Everton. I just think, personally, Koeman and Southampton are a great fit for each other especially as his managerial record wasn't great elsewhere and he's had a chance to build his own squad over the last two seasons. You'll appoint someone who is better then Koeman in my opinion but wouldn't be shocked if he left for you guys. Anyway, sorry for the rant. Best of luck finding a new manager and hopefully both clubs will be battling it out for the Top 6 next year. ;)
Koeman is your manager at the moment. He's under contract and looks like he may get a new deal too. He's doing a decent job at a decent club. No animosity as far as I'm concerned. If he doesn't sign that new contract offer that may open things up. If he does get a new deal and signs it then he definitely stays at Southampton. If that happens so be it. This is what happens when a manager gets sacked or moves on. Speculation galore. Its football and thats why we love it.

Ranieri won the title after underwhelming elsewhere. Before Poch, Sherwood had the best win-ratio of any Spurs Prem manager then barely won a game at Villa.

We can use logic up to a point, the rest is luck & timing.
