Not sure what can be plainer.

Koeman insists he is happy at Southampton, as speculation builds over who will replace Roberto Martinez at Everton.

The Dutchman agreed a three-year deal when he replaced Mauricio Pochettino in 2014 and his stock has risen having led the team to their highest Premier League position last year (seventh) and could improve on that depending on results this weekend.

Speaking ahead of Sunday's final game of the season - they host Crystal Palace - Koeman was asked whether he would be sticking around at St Mary's in the wake of Everton sacking their manager on Thursday.

he said: "I am manager of Southampton, everyone knows I have one more year of my contract. I got asked the same question last week. We will s together and analyse this season and talk about the future. That's what the news is."

Asked if he would be staying, Koeman stated: "Yes."

Ray Wilkins believes Southampton boss Ronald Koeman will stay at the club this summer
With just 12 months left on his contract and impending discussions with the board over his future, the former Barcelona assistant manager was asked if he felt Southampton's continued fine form had put him in a strong negotiating position for improved terms.

He added: "It's good news the club likes to continue and that means the club is happy with our work and with the technical staff and the players.

Sticking around
Ronald Koeman won't go to Everton, says Ray Wilkins

"There is a very good understanding between the manager and players and that's good. It's important to continue. Let's do our job this weekend and there is time next week before I go on holiday to talk about the future for the club."

Koeman's words should be a big boost for Saints fans before this weekend's season finale, coming soon after the news that
Fraser Forster, James Ward-Prowse and Virgil van Dijk have signed contract extensions.
Former England skipper Ray Wilkins told Sky Sports News HQ earlier on Friday that he did not expect Koeman to move to Everton.

The ex-Chelsea and Manchester United star said: "I think Southampton are the bigger club. He may be looking for a bigger fish, and that's no disrespect to Everton or their supporters. He's done a magnificent job."

What do you honestly expect him to say?

His interview. He can't look the guy in the eyes when answering if he will be there next season.

I bet he hands his notice in next week

The bolded bit just confirms Ray is mentally ill and probably spends his weekends driving a Mark ii Fiesta to Bognor in is bare feet.

Koeman is flavour of the month, that's all. He couldn't even beat Martinez this season, we destroyed them down there, and put in one of the worst performances at home the other week and his Shane Long led frontline couldn't beat us. Not to mention his 6-1 home loss to the RS.

Finishing 7th or thereabouts is nothing to write home about, how many managers have done that with smaller clubs?

Very true. Initially I was happy with the Koaman link but I have been turned now I know more about him (didn't have a clue how crap he was before Southampton). Would rather take a punt on Frank out the Dutch runners.

Not many managers have had to sell all their best players and still finish top 7 at a 'smaller' club. Clyne, chambers, lallana, schielderlin and lovern sold and still regularly beats the top sides (Chelsea, RS, Spurs, arsenal, city and spurs this season alone).

Koeman is just using all this to get his contract with Southampton sorted and improved. Everton should state that he's not in contention.....

Everton won't say anything, the club never do, because if we have to answer rumours, it would be everyday.

Just let the media get on with it and don't get your hopes on what the media say.

Just wait till the club confirm who they are talking too.

You don't need to do the "smaller" quote thing mate, they are smaller. Full stop.

I agree he lost a lot of players. I also know he was given a shed load to spend, it wasn't like he played the kids all year was it

He has spent that money very wisely. Let's hope he repeats the feat with us, should he come here.

i hope he stays there and does the job he has started, fed up with people waving money at managers and players as soon as they do ok and expecting them to jump ship.
Bit like us with Stones hope the saints make a stand and say your staying.
easy for me to say as he isn't my choice for are job.
