Ronald Koeman

Ronald Koeman...good choice for us?

  • yes, he'll get us top 6 and stability

  • no, it's uninspiring even if top 6 is back on

  • josé on toast

The old Trafford reference and Stamford bridge reference were made to point out that he'd won on 3 occasions in 8 when Moyes couldn't in 44.

I disagree that it's a fair comparison Moyes last 2 squads for the seasons you mentioned were made up of entirely players he chose who were on board with his expectations and philosophy. Koeman went into a squad being ripped apart by Liverpool and Shaw to UTD yet did well when they were being talked of as potential relegation candidates, he then bettered it despite losing players again.

I'm on the Emery camp, but I'm glad we can choose from these two as appose The Scotish Koeman, Pellegrini or FDB.

This.

He lost Lallana, Shaw, Schneiderian, Clyne, Lovren, Rodriguez (injury). Took time to adjust and had European commitments last season.

Replaced what he lost with Mane, Forster, Wanyama, Van Dyke.

Erm Clyne never replaced properly, Shaw never really replaced (Bertrand is average), Forster isn't replacing anyone, Wanyama wasn't his signing. They also got knocked out by a nothing team in Europe shortly after the league season started. C'mon dude.

Lolz. He got knocked out in the qualifiers against some Danish no marks.

Which was the point. They didnt have the squad for domestic and European football (both suffered)

We had zero European football, finished bottom half of the table, and they still finished 3points off top 4 last season (if I'm right)

But still finished 6th 3 points from 4th...

Point being...when our squad is halved for next season and key players go...

I want to believe we should aim higher that RK.

His record is decent but not inspiring. He seems to miss the big targets.

Surely we should be trying with everything we've got for Emery and Monchi.

My other major concern is that Saints developed a fantastic transfer system. We - since Ginge 1 left - haven't. So would Ginge 2 do as well with us?

Annoying that the only way we can woo new managers is by offering them oodles of cash in wages. Once upon a time, managers wanted to join simply because it was managing Everton. Damn you Martinez.

Thats whats the DoF position is for mate - they deal with the transfers and scouting.

You would presume whoever we get for that will already have a bunch of potential signings, and system in place to lean on.

Think the luster of managing Everton has been gone much longer than Martinez's tenure.....

Something like @eliasssss__ or some other crap.

I'd wait until it's totally 100% done though. This is Everton.
Oh, I've played it dead cool already.
I've listened to lads giving it large and genuinely laughing at even the thought of us getting Koeman.
I still would like both the Spanish lads however., but I'm prepared for utter smugness with Koeman.

Really good mate is a Saints season ticket holder, I first raised Koeman to us a good while ago and got typical 'not happening' responses, then I moved a few weeks later to him being our number 1 target, he laughed, then last week I said we'd moved to Emery, so for this go full circle back to the start will be quite beautiful.

But yes, I to would prefer Emery, but I'd be more than happy with Koeman.
