Do you think it's fair to compare Moyes last 2 seasons with his squad to Koemans first 2 seasons at Southampton, a squad that lost 5 of its best players from the previous regime.

And Laudrup was binned through his second season for not progressing. Koeman has.

I reckon it's safe to say Saints are better now than when Poccetino left. And I reckon we'd all be happy with Poch in charge. And no I can't and never have been able to spell his name.

Yes I do. I think it's the fairest comparative - it's better than yours - comparing games at Old Trafford...

Moyes inherited a team that was on it's arse - Koeman inherited a team from Pochettino who had already finished 8th. He's progressed them, great. Is that enough?

Laudrup was at Swansea for 80 odd games, Koeman has been at Southampton for 90 odd. There's comparatives - big footballing name, doing well in their first stint in the Prem...

People are assuming I'm being very critical on Koeman for calling him the Dutch Moyes. I'm not - there is a reason Moyes was cherry picked to replace arguably the greatest manager in the game to the biggest job in world football based on what he did at Everton.

Beginning to think we are finding it too difficult to prise Emery away from Seville, so have gone back in for Koeman. Has the Esk or Mole said anything different ?

Can any of our esteemed female members please advise how I can even begin to fake excitement right now?

Isn't the point that Koeman has done that with Southampton who are generally a bit crap? Rather than Moyes getting Everton where we should be?

Or am I missing something?

Moyes took over Everton after 15th/16th placed finishes. Our team was awful back then and we were constantly in relegation battles. Koeman took over Southampton after they finished 8th.

Says a lot about the job Moyes did for Everton in my opinion, but towards the end he took as far as he could. Although I do feel he was restricted with his transfer budget.

The old Trafford reference and Stamford bridge reference were made to point out that he'd won on 3 occasions in 8 when Moyes couldn't in 44.

I disagree that it's a fair comparison Moyes last 2 squads for the seasons you mentioned were made up of entirely players he chose who were on board with his expectations and philosophy. Koeman went into a squad being ripped apart by Liverpool and Shaw to UTD yet did well when they were being talked of as potential relegation candidates, he then bettered it despite losing players again.

I'm on the Emery camp, but I'm glad we can choose from these two as appose The Scotish Koeman, Pellegrini or FDB.
