Why is Koeman good?
Emery is only a cup manager

OK let's just sign big Sam?

Just do your research on Koeman and Emery and you will see what the fuss is about. Google research is free.

Don't want Koeman, he is pure tosh, no different to Moyes.
Wouldn't put Koeman on the same dull level as Moyes, but I fear something similar: a bargain buyer that can get an average squad to perform beyond expectations, yet not well enough to win anything.

To be fair, who knows how he'd do if given some money to spend at Everton. We saw how it worked out for Moyes, though. Until I see reason to believe otherwise, I'll think of Koeman simply as a "Moyes Plus." Not an ambitious target.

Koeman has done nowt...

OK
Koeman done much better at Southampton then pochettino
Koeman won the Dutch title with two different teams
Koeman is good at rebuilding teams
Koeman is a massive name in football
His win rate overall is impressive
He got a winner mentality
He got premiership experience so will be able to adapt straight away
One of the best players of his time and will demand respect instant
He won 8 trophies

He nothing like Moyes

Koeman was certainly Moshiri's first choice and most Evertonians would have accepted that 3 weeks ago. However the search has widened and perhaps there's been the realisation that we're a more attractive proposition than we thought.

The Premier League is the street everyone wants to live in. We're the only house on offer, so it's much more of a buyer's market than the seller's. That's why we've been able to attract Monchi - the odds are that Emery will come along too. Koeman is no longer first choice through his own actions - hence the "over-played" card comment.
I agree with your second paragraph, to me Emery should have been our no1 target from the start. He is the best manager that we could have got this summer and is a big step up from Koeman. I just hope we are sticking with Emery as first choice.

agree with that

Let us be perfectly clear, either Emery or Koeman would be a massive step in the right direction. Both have question marks against them, as does any manager coming in. But both have massive pluses, Koeman has worked wonders at Southampton and remember the better players were sold out from under him. He hasn't bought big players or moulded them into a team but what evidence have we that he can't do that.
Emery has only won cups, but if he had won leagues titles in Spain we couldn't attract him. Again, who is to say he can't win a title when he isn't up against Barcelona and Real Madrid.
My choice was Pellegrini, he is a winner and has experience in the league, his age is a question mark against him.
I am content we are in the market for managers of this status, at one stage we were talking about Mark Hughes.

Exactly. I know this is a democratic forum but some people ought to read their post back to themselves before pressing send.

The Esk - who's our best source of information - has said Pellegrini is out of the picture. I think he's a much better coach than his Man City tenure implies and initially thought he might be an interesting 2-3 year appointment, a bridging role until a longer term appointment could be made. However, when a guy starts openly talking about retirement, as Pellegrini has, it's probably best to move on.

Koeman makes sense in a lot of ways. A new managerial appointment always carries a risk, especially when the pool of managerial talent is much richer abroad - think the likes of Ramos, Scholari, Garde, Magath, etc. - so Koeman's work over the last two years suggests a coach who is a solid bet, who would likely improve the team, work well with a sporting director, and play decent football. It seems clear that he'd be our manager right now if he wasn't thinking about other jobs in the future. Personally, I think he might be overestimating himself but we'll see.

Emery, to me, is much more interesting a coach. People bang on about it, but three Europa Leagues in a row is something else, while the idea he sacrifices the domestic league doesn't really tally up with 5th, 5th, 7th finishes. When he was able to retain his playing staff a little more easily at Valencia he secured successive 3rd place finishes. He's a bigger risk than Koeman inasmuch as there's always a chance he might flop, but it's also a risk that could carry far greater rewards.

The one thing we ought not to let sway our opinion when it comes to Koeman vs Emery is results against the RS. Emery is known for prioritising European competition over the league. Obviously, if we weren't able to at least get top four, a European trophy would be great but, for me at least, I want that feelgood feeling every weekend, even if it means the occasional blip. That's why, of the two, I would prefer Koeman.
