One of my favourite non Blues. Surely the number 9 in any football fans greatest XI of all-time. He was that good that people don't remember him mostly for that haircut in 2002. The only instance when someone from St Helens been a couple of years ahead in the 'fashion stakes'.

I'd argue he ended up being underrated through his career.

Never seen him in person, but to be able to dribble at pace, whilst destroying some of the worlds best players in the process is just someting you don't see very often. What a player.

A physical monstrosity. Fast, strong, skilled and the absolute last player you wanted barrelling down at you with the ball. The total package at his peak.

Not hard to imagine him winning three straight World Cup finals if Parreira had decided to play him in 1994 at age 17, and if whatever happened before the 1998 final hadn't happened.

It's been over 2 decades since he was at his peak and he still manages to get a couple new threads, exactly like this, every year. Says it all...

IMO, it's partially down to what I suspect is the avg age on GOT but also his playing style+skill...as I'm not sure the other one will receive the same spoken reverence, after he's out of the game.
