You obviously missed the appreciation bit. Many many people think he was the best striker to play the game and he dominated, even if as you say he was done by 23, that is still 6 years where he dominated most teams. he wasn't done by 23 just had injury issues and when he played he still outscored most.If buts and maybes.

Best striker I've ever seen, I remember the first season Sky showed LA Liga, and it was his only season at Barcelona, he took the game to a level I'd never seen before, scored some ridiculous goals.
He should have never left but Barca, they promised him a payrise and everything was agreed, I think he went away for the Copa America then Barca withdrew the new contract offer because of the finances probably due to LVG wanting to bring in the bulk of his Ajax team with him, so Barca sold him to Inter.
96 to 98 were his best years then his knee injuries happened, his explosiveness with his bulky physique took a massive toll on both his knees from what I read from the doctors at Inter.

Pelé is a legend but he scored all his goals in South America didn't he. He was part of some magnificent brazil sides. Much before my time though unfortunately.
I grew up watching Maradona, Platini, Schumacher, Socrates, Zico and then The Dutch teams with Gullit and Van Basten but Ronaldo was unbelievable never seen a player run at such sped with such good close control and goals at the end of the tricks all the time. Just an absolute pleasure to watch.
This thread isn't about who is better than who, just an appreciation of one of the greatest most skilful players ever.
