Well, football all about opinion, isn't it? Plenty of people will disagree with me, but plenty will agree. I will always prefer players whose game is based around guile and vision - for me the greatest players I've seen are Maradona, Zidane and Romario.
Elaborate on the first point por favor? Or do you mean in the 2006 WC (where ironically I think not a lot of players had -inho in their name lol ).
He also didn't do that but OK.
This has nothing to do with marketing btw, people just have eyes and saw greatness. So did other players, so did coaches. In fact, so did Zidane himself, several times.
No lolCan you imagine having a player like that at Everton
What a horrible analogy lol Also you didn't even confirm if that's what you're talking about lolLike I said it's all about opinions.
When I watch Ronaldo what I saw was a physical freak who could do amazing things due to his physique, but imo that type of player doesn't exert the same amount of influence into a team as a player who beat you by bamboozling and out thinking you.
In a way its similar to Mike Tyson's influence on his sport - a physical freak who dominated at an early age due to speed and physique that no one had ever seen before, but as his body changed and he didn't work on changing his style with it, he could never quite scale the heights of his early years
Zidane moved at about half the speed of Ronny but took on a whole team that including el Phenomenon, Rivaldo, Ronaldino and a whole host of other 'aldos when he was 34yo and made them look like a bunch of journeymen.
Personally I think Ronaldo was perhaps also the most hyped footballer there has ever been - it was an era where Nike were getting into Football, and the made the Brazilian team and their main striker their focal point - not obvious when you are getting marketed to.
He did score that great hattrick against United though, which was cool beans. Mind you, even Beckham got a couple of goals in that match coming off the bench, which is statistically much more impressive, and nobody's proclaiming him as the GOAT.

Lets be honest the whole GOAT stuff is really boring with no correct answer, its seems to have drifted over from the UFC biffs who follow a sport 2 months old. A far more interesting question is who is your favourite player.Like I said it's all about opinions.
