he'd walk into our first team as it is now if were being honest.

i saw a clip of goals from the 16/17 season hes involved in most of them. shame he got blinded by money but i dont think koeman exactly encouraged him to stay they clearly hated eachother

Sarri is the best thing that could happened for the lad. He's famous for giving a chance to the players he has at his disposal and improve them a lot. If he's up for it, then he needs to keep his head down and listen to the maestro.

It was allowed to go on for too long. Should of been shipped out earlier or build a team around him a team around him.
The whole situation was badly managed
Don't think anything more could have been done tbh - we tried the carrot [Martinez] which worked for a bit, before Ross got disinterested and out of shape, then the stick [Koeman] which also worked in the short term before he again couldn't be arsed (amounted to a committed effort to play himself out of the England team, which was an horrendous missed opportunity for him, in hindsight. Would have been the only ball-carrying midfielder in the squad).

So either he is just an oxygen thief of a player that cannot be managed, or he has / had something in his personal life that was causing him big problems here. The level of talent combined with extreme flakiness over several seasons is too hard to explain otherwise.
