Ross Barkley joins Chelsea, er, Villa on loan

Won more there in eighteen months than we have in the last twenty five years, yet we’re mocking his ambition or ability. Maybe he hasn’t fulfilled the potential and early promise and maybe he never will but he was is more damning is that he didn’t see us as good enough.....another young Evertonian and England’s record goal scorer felt the same.

Barkley was massively indulged under Martinez and then made a scapegoat by Koeman....no wonder it went the way it did...and he has to take a responsibility as well....there is no way back here and it’s another case of what could have been. Perhaps there are regrets both sides, but the player I saw today isn’t the Barkley that he should have been. No sentiment in football though.

Why in the world would Sarri start Barkley when he can play Kovacic? Kovacic is a very good midfielder. He just wasn't getting enough match time at RM when he had to compete with Kroos, Modric, and Isco.

I bet Sarri really regrets that decision.

Because Kovacic has been worse than Barkley this season, he has played plenty of matches and has made no mark in the team or league whatsoever. Neither him nor Barkley are allowed to play with creative freedom, there role in the team is “water carrier”.

Saving him for the cup final?

Sarri threw this one for two seasons, give City a false sense of security ahead of the final and also to help stop Liverpool winning the league

He's a class player Barkers. He just needs a hell of a lot of confidence placed in him.

I think most top flight players are "class players". In terms of talent there is probably very little between them all.

Mentality is what separates the good from the great, if a player needs a hell of a lot of confidence placed in him (and I agree he does) then is he really THAT good of a player?

To be fair, I'm amazed he's getting minutes so fair play.

I thought he'd be at West Ham or Newcastle by now - I'd be amazed if he was getting any game time at Chelsea next season. Never good enough.
