Ross Barkley joins Chelsea, er, Villa on loan

Not every player can do what Sterling can do, you also need other players in your squad, its a team game after all.
Hate how football centres so much around the FIFA generation of individuals

Absolutely right, you need squad players for games like Malmo if you're competing on multiple fronts. You can win those games with much lower quality players. Like at Everton, if we were playing Wednesday-Saturday, week after week, we'd need e.g. Tom Davies to step in against your Lincoln City's in the early rounds of the FA Cup etc to give the likes of Gueye and Gomes a breather. Obviously assuming the fitness of all players going into an FA Cup final, you wouldn't want Tom Davies anywhere near your starting XI. Tom would absolutely have to be given a medal if you win and for a player of his quality, he'd have right to be proud. Perhaps not as much as your Richarlisons and Gueyes, but proud nonetheless.

His England career has improved massively since he joined Chelsea as well. He’s started the last four games for England and looked good in all of them and is now a regular.

Safe to say everything has improved for him massively this season and his career looks to be back on track after a really bad period of stagnation at Everton.

He's a better than average premier League player but I'm not losing any sleep over him. He'll never get anywhere near the heights Rooney got as a player.

It's just that he's in a team now where they rotate a lot with the midfield and attack. Here he was guaranteed a starting place.

That's just the way it is at a club competing for silverware and facing 50-55 games per season.

He's fully part of that team. An equal member of it. Look at how many times Higuain played this season.

He's been more important for Chelsea than Kovacic, for sure.

Barkley 'the bit part player' is for the birds. It's just a lame way of deflecting from the fact he made the right career choice. Many crowed about him only being able to attract a Newcastle or West Ham. Well there he is - an integral member of a top team holding silverware. It seems that for some that fact is too difficult to handle.

He's a deserter, a yellow-belly...as a younger Mourinho would say, "one of the bottle". May he bask long in his reflected glory and be burnt in the process.

Everton, forever.
