...I’d fear for us when the opposition have possession with Barkley and Gomes in CM and 3 up front.

The notion that he hardly ever had extensive periods of good form is for the birds.

We all know by now how you get the best from Barkley: hand him little responsibility to get behind the ball and chase around, and set him the task of receiving a pass on the half way line and get the opposition peddling backwards toward their own goal. If we played Gomes with Barkley there would be a diversification in how Everton attack. ATM we are thoroughly predictable pinging balls into the box from out wide. Overly reliant on it.

We had our best attacking football since the 80s when Barkley, Lukaku and Mirallas were taking the game to our opponents. An attack with Richarlison, DCL and Barkley, supplied by Gomes would frighten the very best in this league.

The lad is bang average and on very very rare occasions he has a couple of good games.

Ha he is currently struggling to get a game in the worse chelsea side in a generation and has hardly done anything in three seasons.
I don’t buy into this scum / snake name calling but I cannot see any reason why anyone thinks he should return.

He'd be a boost to us. Exactly what we need someone to carry the ball from deep and get involved with the attack.

Agree mate we need a ball carrier but Barkley isn’t the man for the reasons I mentioned. Too easily dispossessed for someone who looks so strong plus gives the ball away far too easy. Unfortunately this is what he’s consistent at.

Been in the game longer than say Maddison/Grealish and he will never be at their level. He’s light years behind them in my opinion.

He's a confidence player, for sure.

I'd like to see what Ancelotti could do with him. He's renowned for getting the best out of players with talent.
