Ross Barkley joins Chelsea, er, Villa on loan

Remember when Chelsea were winning stuff and people on here lauded him for his achievements.

He was playing a fair amount and part of the team, especially under Sarri.

Personally think that Chelsea are gonna bring in another midfielder as the middle of the park looks weak, as well as the defence.

They also have to persist with playing Havertz, Ziyech when fit and Werner as they cos a lot of money...even though Hudson Odi, Barkley, Mount etc could all do the same job.

A decent move for Barkley, he has never been a first team regular at Chelsea and is now just a benchwarmer. He may have won the odd winners medal there but his career has hardly progressed and all that early promise remains unfulfilled.

Smith has made some shrewd signings and Villa should now have more than enough to stay well clear of the relegation scrap imo, not even close.

Tbh already looking like Fulham as good as gone, they're that bad it would take an Allardyce Sunderland like miracle, which only leaves two places and no doubt West Brom, Sheff Utd, a penniless Burnley and the barcodes will contest them.

I think West Ham have such a nightmare set of fixtures coming up that they'll be temporarily right down there, but are far better than any of the above sides and won't finish anywhere near relegation either, could even be top half.

Good signing for Villa, their midfield is potentially pretty decent now. Hope he does well for them. Shame it didn't work out at Chelsea but they are stacked in midfield.

Still think he's better than Mount but Lampard has a perma boner for Mount for some reason.
