Disagree. Better only maybe than Gomes and I don’t think Gomes ever plays a meaningful minute for us ever again. Being taken off at halftime against Palace for Dele, who FL clearly had given up on, there’s no coming back from that.

The idea of Barkley as a DM is terrifying so no way he’d back up Gana etc. Post injury he can’t come close to Iwobi in physicality or in just giving a crap. The only one he might conceivably improve upon is Davies but even judging Davies at his worst he keeps to his assignment on the pitch and whatever his limitations is not as mentally suspect. Davies for me all day long over 2022 Barkley.

Does not fit with the culture FL is trying to build. Hard working players with high character, even if not top drawer talents good solid footballers, and without injury histories. Barkley is the antithesis.
