My head says he's nearing 30, is on high wages and hasn't made it at Chelsea - we need to go for young, hungry and players with potential.

As we all know ITK claims are often way off however a claim that I have seen is yes he is available and yes he is in the last year of his contract but as for being free in the current window that doesn’t appear to be the case with a fee suggested of £7 million.

However it’s just possible that Chelsea still owe Everton some add ons and or a small element of his fee so negotiated deal would I guess be possible .

I threw his and RLC names into the pot the other day and was laughed at but I wouldn’t dismiss them possibly moving to you. RLC would do a decent job for you but Barkley has not ever got past first base at Chelsea

He got games last season almost because the squad was running on fumes. RLC even had to play a game or two in defence


Good player but has never lived up to his potential in part due to a ACL injury

It was sad to consider how far the Barkley - to - Lukaku Show has fallen. Together they couldn't win a three-legged race against a lamppost. They barely even played together last season. They were 90 minutes of danger together, once.

**Unfair to Lukaku, Chelsea used him poorly. Hope he smashes it this season.

There are pros to him being in the squad. He provides the center with abilities we don't have in other midfielders, he's a free transfer and if he replicates his previous form with us then he'd almost replace Richarlisons goals and assists.

Downside is he hasn't really played properly in ages so could be gash now and how he left us.

After he retired from football, Nev did a brief turn on a Granada TV football programme as a pundit. I don't think he lasted two episodes. Great Keeper though and truly an Everton Great.

We wouldn't be paying any fee, or writing off any money for Barkley mate.

The best we might do, is make a loan offer, but youd probably have to heavily subsidise his wages.
