I do wonder if he would have left if we had not brought Sigurdsson in. Maybe he thought Koeman/someone else proactively replaced him and wanted him gone? Everything in this club went to crap after the summer of 2017. Backtracking and bringing him back is very unlikely to be the solution to one of our numerous problems.

There are more, and better, players out there, who won't annoy a large section of the fanbase if signed.
