He's the one player who I do think was actually treated poorly by the home fans, which is a shame, as he was excellent for a lot of his time here.

He's also not the type to get better with age, and the lack of playing time won't have helped him, either.

A rare talent, but well past the point of mentoring now.
His problem wasn't his leg break early in his career that hampered his development a little.

His problem was the fact he's thick as treacle.

He was hardly ever aware of the play around him which is a pity because he had everything else.

And to add to that, the story seems to be that he hasn't looked after himself like an athlete, so those raw abilities are never going to carry him as far as they might have.

It was said years ago that Southgate described him as 'un-coachable' while managing the U21s (I think).

Think big Nev summed him up very well…… good instinctive footballer, but give his a second to think about what he’s going to do and he’s too thick and makes the wrong decision
massive swerve

Even when he was in his so called prime thats exactly how i saw him. Gives the ball away far to much. And a bit like davies and gomes can often turn your own attack into retreating on the back foot through pure sloppy play.

If he comes back it just confirms the Club is in a sorry state. He will just become another body, we have many, collecting vast amounts of money whilst providing zero in return. Proper sad really

It's well known down here in the West Mids that Villa gave up on him because him and Grealish had problems, Grealish was allegedly the English player who was hooked on sleeping tablets with drink and spent 3 months in daycare Rehab beginning of last year. Barkley was cast aside as Villa thought It should be Chelsea who should address any problems he had

And he'd moonwalk into our team that's how bad our recruitment has been.

Go on Ross, lad

Come the end of the window, if this is the caliber of player that we have brought in then we are absolutely gone. Lampard has talked endlessly about changes that need to be made, and we need to be much more energetic and robust. This is more of the same. Has-beens on their last legs. Embarrassing!
