It's rare in October that players exhibit any outward signs of discontent. Especially in a situation like this where they've come through the club's academy and are local lads. You have to look at it from the other side, how quickly would the Everton crowd turn on Barkley if he were to publicly say "yeah Champions League football is important to me even if that means having to leave my boyhood club".

......he's not exhibited any such view up to now. All individuals are different and Barkley seems the type to listen and be advised by those close to him. We know Gerrard tells him to stay put for now, if you watched the Lille game in midweek Eto'o is clearly a mentor figure. The situation might well change, but if he moves in the short term I don't think it will be via his own leverage.

As for where he goes, the Rodwell situation will certainly be in his (and other young players) mind. Mega bucks salary offer at a club like City will increasingly be seen as a short-term benefit but not a long-term option. City want instant pay back, the club has great players but a lack of soul. When Rooney moved he was almost the finished article, that is not the case with Barkley.

Its clearly not that transparent to most on here as they seem to be getting incredibly wound up over him.

Best thing to do with a WUM is not to rise to him.

And don't act so precious when a Man City fan says something about them buying Barkley on the internet. Laugh it off and you won't get so wound up by it.
