Ross Barkley

I watched the Bristol West Ham match (should have been us) and city had a lad who played a lot like Osman, lots of effort but not too much end product. However, he was the one making them tick, buzzing around the MF and trying to distribute the ball. At the moment we need OSman more than we need Ross.
Sad to say.
Like I said against poor opposition he's great
But for ten years when he has played against real class midfielders or full backs when he played on the wing
He's been pants and weak as piss
Like watching a ten year old v 15yr olds
In ten yes time when Barkley is 31 let's see who's had the best career
I know who my money's on

Yep, completely agree with lots of that however, right now, we need OSman style of play more than Ross' ineffectual attempts.

that luke freeman was it? he was everywhere that lad but had absolutely no end product

It is upto the manager to speak to him on this. Is Ross a wee bit afraid of getting injured again, I wonder either way his performance is not doing the team much good. But RM needs to sort out Ross's best position and play him, and stop all this swapping players around.
But pulling out of challenges is the no:1 way to get seriously hurt, opps he has already done that (coincidence ?)

According to Savage "Everton fans get on the players too easily, especially Barkley."
I'm somewhat in the middle. Yes he's a young lad, local and a blue. He's also got lots of potential, so need to make sure we nurture him.

Yet, it doesn't take away from the fact that he's been very poor this season. To the point, that some of his perofrmances have been 'woeful'.

It has to be a balancing act... we cannot and should not completely lambaste the lad. However, he shouldn't be completely exempt from criticism.

It's not entirely his fault as if he's under performing it is for the manager and coaching staff to support him, or if need be give him some 'rest'.

Still, I'm firmly behind people who have began to question his attitude or work ethic. We can't push him away, but he needs to up his game.

Making mistakes a lad is part and parcel of the game: people should accept that. Looking disinterested and ambling around is not!

This is the reason why managers should withdraw players that are consistently not playing to their standard before this kind of thing happens.

Once the fans start getting on the players' case then permanent damage has been done.

As for the comment by Savage. I think Ross got a lot longer than others.

I sort of hope he doesn't play today (although I would have dropped him for West Brom instead) but with the derby coming up I would almost risk it to see if he could put in a good performance because at the moment we need players who will work in the derby and I'm not sure Ross will.
